I don't disagree with what is said here. However, I think there is a real possibility that--out of a sense of modesty--Vlad "the Ras" Putin is not cheering on a US policy that he directed St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago to pursue "or else."

It's amazing how they are willing to speak up once they decide to retire. This is probably Tillis' shining moment as an elected official. It's low praise, but at least he's banging the drum. He's taking the heat from the Trump people so his peers don't have to. Which is not great, but at least it prevents them (hopefully) from groveling on camera.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I agree. I'm simultaneously saying that a) I'm glad Tillis is saying this; b) where the fuck was this for the past decade and a half; and c) why does he have to cover for his colleagues in asserting that we should not blow up our defense alliance for Trump's vanity.
 
You'd have to pay me a lot more than 100K to join the US from Greenland.

Hopefully they understand -- and probably they do -- that the reason the US wants to own Greenland is the prospect of cheaply mining rare earths. That is, they aren't going to bother with pesky concerns about the environment. Radium in the drinking water? Eh, it's just Greenlanders. Who cares?

Problem is that Greenlanders might not realize the full extent of MAGA depravity. I mean, it's hard for Americans to do it. I continue to find myself surprised by some of Trump's shit, even though I know there's no bottom, that he's capable of anything, that he actively looks to find evil to do. And yet we are conditioned to assume that people aren't complete psychopaths.

All I can say to Greenland is, "do not take the bait. You will get fucked over, hard."
 
Why don't they put that money here where it's within our national borders. That's even better for national security.
