GOP & Policies toward/treatment of Transgender Americans

I must be living under an enormous boulder because I legitimately had no idea whatsoever that bathroom/shower/locker room access was currently some existential crisis facing America. I'm not even being snarky or sarcastic. I'm dead serious. Had literally no clue that this many people apparently spend this much time thinking (or fearing) about those things.
To be honest, I don't think many people, until recently, gave any of it much thought. I think telling females that males might, or are going to be, allowed in locker rooms is why there is attention on it now. The attention now is probably only among females that follow politics fairly closely. If it were be implemented, you'd probably hear more from females.

It's another classic case of the GOP and right-wing news media and social media and talk radio taking a largely irrelevant issue (or one that is irrelevant to the vast majority of Americans) and turning it into a greatly overblown crisis that frightens and angers their base to get out and vote. It's no different than the "transgenders in women's sports" issue (and lol at Trumpers caring about women's sports). There are at least 180,000 high school athletes in North Carolina alone, and in the state we've had fewer than 5 cases of transgenders playing sports here, yet I've seen plenty of posts from social conservatives who are all worried and concerned about this issue. Republicans and their media outlets like Fox really are brilliant at finding issues to rile up their base - they have become masters at playing on their emotions, fears, and bigotries.

Was she raped by a trans female?

Why doesn't she work to ensure that rapist like Brock Turner are actually punished and not given a slap on the wrist because he's a privileged white male.

That would make much more sense.

I'm all for laws to ensure rapist are appropriately punished.

Where a few women shit doesn't do that.
Those laws exist. Of course they have to be administered by judges who believe in punishment. The Loudoun kid is out by the way. So yea, slap on the wrist. To bad those girls and their parents live in an area where judges don't protect their rights. How many rapes are acceptable so .25% of the population can use the women's bathroom? Does half the population's opinion matter? Say its 90% of women don't mind. Does the other 10% have to be worried so we can be woke and appease that .25% who feel slighted? Where is the line?

Gotcha. But where are males being allowed into female locker rooms? I spend a lot of time in different gyms and fitness centers when on the road for work and I've yet to see it anywhere.

Right, because it was the gop who decided that you know what, let's redefine gender and change the long standing bathroom policy that even if you have a penis and you are feeling feminine today you can pee in the women's bathroom. Yea, its the gop who lost all common sense. There is a reason "Kamala is for they / them, Trump is for you" was one of the most effective political slogans / commercials in the entire election.

20 years ago my daughter went to College The all gender dorms had bathrooms-like if you have to use the bathroom-use it No gender requirements
Zero problems

You and your party are the only ones talking about gender! Literally Kamala Harris and Tim Walz never uttered the word one single time in the entire campaign! Sarah McBride never uttered the word once during her entire campaign! It's just y'all! Y'all are the weird fucks bizarrely obsessed with everyone else's genitals!

If you allow restrooms, how do you disallow locker rooms? I've never been to a gym where the restrooms aren't located in the locker room.

really? The gyms I have visited had restrooms in the lockers and also had restrooms outside of the lockers.

yea And I wonder how many are "superior athletes cause they are really boys'

Would seem to be somewhere around 900 give or take. Also a reference to NC in the article. Caitlyn Jenner seems to be against trans playing female sports so not sure who would be more knowledgeable on the issue of how it relates to fairness and safety. Not so sure why it is so difficult to have a separate category for trans sports.

Honestly, if I were transgender I'd be terrified right now of what's coming down the pike when Trump & Company take office in January. I think they're going to be the first main target of Trumpers in the ongoing culture wars. I expect there will be a good many bills passed at the federal level that will affect even transgenders in blue states.

I think a lot of transgender folks, especially the young folks, are very confused and afraid. It is heartbreaking.
