No one said women as a gender aren’t as good as men. Quit being so dramatic.

It was relevant to the discussion to point out that ESPN still did their normal men’s college gameday every week this season, no more no less. When I first read WM’s post I thought he meant ESPN had sent their Gameday crew to the NCSU women’s game en lieu of their weekly men’s game, which would’ve been huge news if it had been true, so I felt it needed clarification.

I enjoy women’s sports and watched UNC women’s hoops the past two days at work. Have bought UNC WBB season tickets in recent years.

No idea what your comment about Tuberville is even about.
The way your statement came across is that until women's sport is chosen over men's then it's hasn't improved.

I see them as separate and successful based on their own merit. I don't see any need for comparison as a measurement of success.

I'm not sure how that is dramatic.

Read your post again. I understand your point better now.

Two things can be true at the same time. Most (probably nearly all) women's sports are not as popular as the men's equivalent AND Tubberville is a moron who's pulling crap out of his backside.

Neither of those truths are a reflection on females as a gender.

Yeah, think we are all in agreement with all of the above. Nothing controversial in your post at all.

Tuberville isn’t making such comments because he’s a moron.

He’s telling these lies because he’s mendacious AND it curries favor and support among MAGAts, Trumplicans, and GOPers.
It is so very sad that people will believe these blatant lies when it's so easy to lookup the numbers.

Tubberville is a fucking idiot. Did he ever stop holding up military confirmations?

Trans high school track star sparks fury after winning girls’ triple jump by staggering 8 feet

So, Hernandez is quite good and has a reasonable chance to win the state title for the first time in her career after significant year over year improvement. For whatever reason, her opponents in that meet had uncompetitive jumps based on California HS stats I checked. That may be normal in HS girl’s Triple Jump — maybe only a few are really competitive on a state-title level. Or maybe she has gone from solid to dominant between her junior and senior year for some reason.

Don't encourage him. Not on this subject.

He thinks pulling an example out every few months changes the fact that trans female athletes are still less than .001% of the population.

I responded b/c this story has gotten a lot of national coverage, so knowing little about the TJ I was curious about how extreme this result was.

Anyway, as a HS basketball player I was a decidedly undersized center at 5-9. Our cross-town rival had a 6-1 center who got a D-1 scholarship and was a 4-year starter in the Metro conference, when she averaged 14+ ppg and over 7 rpg for her career (she score more and rebounded a bit less her freshman year in college). Her HS team was a dominant team that won the state title.

She was tall, athletic and infinitely better than me. (I was significantly better in volleyball but I suspect she maybe never practiced and just played that b/c she was tall). Like at least as much better than me and every other center in my conference as this player is than her competitors. And I played against a HS in Asheville two seasons who had a center who went to NC state and was one of their best players and she was frankly much better than the dominant cross-town center, so extra infinitely better than me. Proabably outweighed me by 50 pounds and was faster.

Anyway, that is how it goes in sports. And this sort of ginned up outrage is obscene.

Bill proposed in Texas could charge transgender people with 'gender identity fraud'

“… Republican state Rep. Tom Oliverson, who represents a part of Houston in District 130, introduced House Bill 3817 that would amend the Texas Penal Code to add a new form of fraud related to gender identity.

According to the bill, “gender identity fraud” would be commuted if a person “knowingly makes a false or misleading verbal or written statement to a governmental entity or the person’s employer by identifying the person’s biological sex as the opposite of the biological sex assigned to the person at birth.”

The penalty if someone were to commit "gender identity fraud" would be a state felony, which could land a person in prison for up to two years and a $10,000 fine. The bill is not expected to pass, according to the Texas Legislature tracker, as it has no co-sponsors and has not moved to any committees. …”

Just a bill bit geez

I'm sure our resident Trumpers and especially bosiders would argue that the bill "is no big deal" because it likely won't pass the legislature, but what they overlook is that it represents the growing sentiments of a great many Republicans and that the GOP is passing laws nearly as bad in other states. And not only are they now going to extremes with transgenders, but we're seeing a growing number of efforts to take overturning gay marriage rights back to the Supreme Court so that Obergefell can be overturned just as Roe was, and growing numbers of bills to make getting abortion a crime that will lead to women in red states being put in prison for murder, even if they got their abortion in a blue state. And there have also been bills introduced in red states since January to end no-fault divorce, ban easy access to contraceptives for women, and on and on. It's literally rolling back the clock on much of the social and legal progress that minorities have made for the last sixty or so years.

yup.

i'm sure that ramrouser esq will be along shortly to tell us that this is all fine, after all one of his best friends is gay.

meanwhile, his political party is busily passing legislation all over the country that strips basic rights from the lgbtq community.

This is correct. That triple jump is a very good jump and depending on what the rules are when she graduates, would get her recruited to D1, but she's still well short of the state record.

The high jump and long jump are good for a regional but aren't going to make too much noise at a state meet.
