I mean I don’t think Wilmington is in any great danger but this is a huge storm. Very broad impacts are incoming. They have a tropical storm watch in Wilmington.
Yeah, im not too worried. It’s a beautiful day right now and it looks like Helene is heading for the middle of the state. My sister’s birthday is tomorrow and she lives in Charlotte, so if anything I feel a little bad for her that she probably won’t get to do much for it.

My son is App State — they were sent to basement for a tornado warning last night and his classes were canceled today due to conditions up there already being bad. High flash flood risk up there.
The day has finally come. When you sent your son to App, I’m sure there were many sleepless nights worrying about hurricane and tornado threat.

I'm in the area too, DB. Rivers where I am are crazy high and the big stuff not even here yet.

UNCA went remote for all classes today and tomorrow then thought more and canceled everything through Friday, meaning that they didn't even want classes taught on Zoom.

I just called a couple of places in WVL to see if they're open and they all were. Indications are that things will not be bad until tonight. That said, roads around AVL etc. can be tricky and wash-outs are pretty common. I'll avoid the River Arts District and other places along the French Broad.

I live in Birmingham and they’re calling for 3-6” of rain and 30-40 mph sustained winds even in BHM on the western side of the storm.

What do folks think the likelihood of flying out of CLT Friday AM at 7:20AM is? :D
