My son is App State — they were sent to basement for a tornado warning last night and his classes were canceled today due to conditions up there already being bad. High flash flood risk up there.
I don't think I have ever heard them having a tornado warning before in all my 49 years of living in NC. I know we didn't when I was there. The parking lot for the mall that was there when I was at App flooded all the time.

I have a cabin in the mountains west of Boone — legit concerned whether the mountainside can sustain this much rain in so short a period.

Here's the thing - they've already had a ton of rain over the past 2-3 days. Not anywhere for it to sink. It's gonna start rolling on top of the ground right of the bat.

Yeah, all I can do is keep watching my video feed from my security system, try not to freak once the internet device there inevitably goes out and hope for the best.

And I acknowledge that mine is a first world concern for a (beloved) vacation home. Plenty of folks have everything at risk if we have severe flooding, rock slides, etc. Hoping for them that things don’t get as bad as predicted.

Guilford County Schools (Greensboro) closed tomorrow. But middle school and high school football games tonight and tomorrow still on (for now).

That is odd.
