Lol. My FIL is extremely MAGA but is also weirdly not in your face about it, perfectly willing to talk politics without ever getting upset or dramatic, and generally a pleasant guy to be around all things considered.

Doesn’t make his world view any less reprehensible, obviously, but he is a unicorn as far as how his politics correlate with general disposition.
 
My mom was just told by Spectrum that her service is out 'indefinitely' -- which I did not find surprising given the state of things, but still is causing her distress b/c she lives in a valley with very poor cell service. She has Spectrum for cable, WiFi and landline, so she is in an information desert due to her limited cell service. Small potatoes, I know, in the larger scheme, but still causing her to feel isolated.

And I've already had her come stay with me once and can do so again, but she's 79-years-old and has lived alone for 27 years now and has a hard time getting used to living with others. I'm tempted to try to rent her a vacation home somewhere outside the Helene afflicted zone.

WOW. Just… WOW. I am stealing this quote, and will be using this when talking with many of the MAGA Christians I know. This is the Gospel boiled down to its pure essence, and yet so many who claim to be Christian operate in the exact opposite way.

I now have a new found awareness for unsheltered folks or poorer, destitute folk without the means or wherewithal to afford fresh foods, fruits and vegetables… living and eating hand to mouth…. Lack of hygiene…
I have a new found awareness of simple, daily, first-world practices like recycling. When a person can’t even heat up a can of beans and has to eat them cold, the last thing on their mind is worrying about rinsing out the can (wastes water) and actually recycling the can (putting in the proper receptacle) and making sure it makes it to proper recycling center, etc.
When I see an over-weight person who is possible of lesser means, eating unhealthy, fast food… maybe even not disposing of the paper product responsibly… I will never, ever again think to myself: “Look at that obese person… they’re not poor, they can’t be ‘hungry’, they can’t be THAT FAT and expect me to feel sorry for them because they lack for anything”

I cried because I had no shoes, until I saw a man with no feet.

If you think this is true, I STRONGLY encourage you to be skeptical of the sources you have relied upon to conclude that Kamala is not qualified to be president. If the sources are the same, they’re lying to you about the former, and that should make you wonder if they’re also lying about the latter.

I posted this on the other thread. These are the lies and bullshit accounts posting this absolute garbage. This twitter account is ALL anti-govt anti-Biden conspiracies and people just believe it. This stuff is all over FB too from "former military" personnel just using this as another platform to go sovereign citizen. Crying about lithium mines being taken over and land being bought up by Blackrock. Its pure insanity.

This. Once you really internalize this, it’s life changing. Especially if you think of yourself as a Christian. This is the literal crux of Christianity, and it’s incredible how few self-professed Christians have even considered it.
