Love all those guys. It may difficult to find a player who was “unheralded” or at least heralded a little bit coming out of High School. They had to have a tad bit of heraldedness to them or they wouldn’t have been on a Carolina team.

Now, find us a walk-on that had some success on the regular - during mop up time or somebody on the blue team for Deano.

Hubert, as you say, but Shammond Williams only had two major college offers, I believe. UNC and Kentucky both offered him.
Shammond was unheralded coming out of HS. So he did a fifth year at a prep school, where he improved a lot to get offers from UNC and Kentucky. He didn't have more offers because a) he wasn't that good when the offers would typically come out (i.e. after junior year); and b) it was pretty well known, IIRC, that he was a heavy UNC lean if not lock.

Was Matt Wenstrom heralded? I remember him as a deep bench player at UNC, but he did manage to play a bit for the Celtics after he graduated.

As an aside, Warren Martin lives just down the road from me. I sometimes see him out walking around (hard to miss) when I drive by.

Wasn’t it Wenstrom who transferred to Texas and had some good success or was that Brownlee?

I'm not sure Salvadori was highly recruited (could you be thinking of Matt Wenstrom? Think he was pursued heavily when he was in HS).
Late bloomer. Was recruited spring of his HS senior year by many schools. Maybe not heralded but not unheralded either. Not at all like Harpring at Tech or Hubert.

I was there at the time. Expectations were 0 for Salvadori coming in. He was seen as a Bill Guthridge development project, redshirting his freshman year. IIRC he had an asthma condition that really affected his conditioning (same for Brian Reese). He really stepped up the Cliff took off.

What's the latest on international players and NIL?

I know there are limitations in place but what are the workarounds?
As far as I know, you’d schedule a game in the Bahamas and then unload the proverbial bag there on said player.

Salvadori was very unheralded by UNC standards. I don’t think any recruiting publication had him in their rankings.

The story I heard (though I can’t confirm it) was that the one game Dean Smith watched of him, he didn’t score a single point. But Dean felt he could become a good player.

ETA: Found this old story about Salvadori: https://greensboro.com/salvadori-ha...cle_64056957-0a55-55c6-a26c-4dc64fda2d80.html.
