Some of our unheraldeds…who did well, all things considered…

Serge Zwikker
The Wolfs
Kevin Salvadori
Ed Stahl
Warren Martin
Lee Dedmon
Stahl was actually a highly-ranked prospect. He was a Parade All-American in 1971. Joe Wolf was actually a first-team Parade All-American and is still considered by some to be the greatest high school player ever in Wisconsin.

So other than Craig Corson y’all are basically saying we never really had an unheralded big man in olden times.

I'll let you know in three months. Early returns are mixed at best.
Then that simply isn't good enough most likely. HD was and is in a spot where nothing less than coming out of portal season as a top 10 contender will save him. That's just the reality of current college athletics.

He was 7'6" or something and UNC was talking to him. I never saw the first signs that he could actually play at the college level.
In the McD AA game, he did block Mike Sweetney's shot three times. Of course, on the other plays, Sweetney went right around him, and Sweetney was not the quickest of men.

I think Warren Martin was not at all heralded. Ademola was unheralded and sort of a big man (played some 4 for us). Peppers was completely unheralded in BB.

It’s too early to make any declarations.

Donn Johnston? Don Eggleston? Bruce Buckley?

The 1977 Triplets? Rich Yonaker, Steve Krafcisin, and Jeff Wolf? I don’t think any of those three were highly touted. Krafcisin might have been.

Pete Budko, Chris Brust, and Dave Popson were three highly touted bigs who weren’t huge successes; but, Budko and Popson were solid ACC bigs…..each was touted as “the next Bobby Jones.” Problem with that was Bobby Jones truly was a unicorn.
