Problem with the Drake thing is it would seem he’s going to push it all the way until the final deadline to stay or go. So won’t know for a month.
I don't see how HD can take that kind of risk in a make or break year. Obviously, we have millions tied up in Drake coming back. If I were in HD's shoes, I'd take the Drake money and go get a sure thing out of the portal, while telling Drake to kill it in the NBA. Letting Drake keep his options open until end of May seems like such an old school move in this day and age. I wouldn't run that risk. Even if you think it is 80/20 that Drake would come back, things change (see, Lubin, V.)

So, Lubin says he intends to come back. But does that mean he is really coming back? I don't understand the whole reasoning why he is entering the portal.

Our money isn’t tied up in Drake. We have donors that will pay for Drake if he decides to come back.

It’s also official that Ian Jackson has transferred to St. John’s.

Probably a good choice for him as Pitino will put a lot of focus on areas of Jackson’s game that he needs to work on the most.
I’d bet that choice had a lot more to do with 💰than honing his fundamentals.

Another issue that the NBA and NCAA need to work on together.

The draft deadline being that far out really hurts in recruiting the portal.

The NBA likely has no problem with the date of the draft deadlines.

The NCAA should adopt a rule for existing college players that is similar to that for high school seniors who are MLB prospects. Let them enter the draft and if they don’t like the result, go to college.

That might prompt sketchy NBA front office personnel to be more open and honest with players.

I can see wanting to be closer to New York. Chapel Hill is great but totally different. Pitino is a legend and no doubt can teach him all kinds of aspects of the game.

Anything that the NBA and the NFL can do to mimic MLB will be a good thing for athletes. Period.

I didn’t suggest that the NBA or NFL mimic MLB.

I said the NCAA should change its rules surrounding the NBA Draft.

The NCAA has no control over pro sports. It does control its own rules and regulations.

MLB’s “control” of minor league baseball likely is NOT good or beneficial for minor league athletes. They work for chump change with little-or-no benefits.
