Earlier I said that Lubin was back. And probably Powell.

Since then, I don’t know that anything has changed with Powell. But, I do know they are going to aggressively pursue Stojakovic. And if not him, potentially a scoring wing type player.

But, I think the door is open for VAL to come back and if he does that, Stojakovic will not happen.

It is a very complex situation at the moment. That’s why I just bluntly said forget everything.

I just read one article suggesting that U of I is his preferred destination and that this is really a one-of-one race for his services. No idea of its truth.
I think it's a pretty good chance that he ends up there but UNC wasn't heavily recruiting him prior to Lubin entering the portal. So it's possible his decision making could change but I'd be kind of surprised.

Also, I just looked at Sto's stats. In what way is he a shooter? He's played in 61 college games at an average of 28 mpg. His 3pt% as a freshman was 32.7, and his FT % was ugly (in the 50s). OK, he didn't shoot many FTs that year and prob a small sample size issue; this past season he was at 80%. But as a soph, his three point % was 31.8%. He wasn't particularly good from 2 point range either. Not much rebounding and too many TOs.

Not sure I'm overly excited about him. He's got the name, but unless I'm missing something, the performance isn't there.

I think it’s mainly potential. Justin Jackson may be a good comparison. Compare AS’s stats to JJ’s stats during his first two years, but particularly their sophomore year stats. Granted, JJ played on much better teams those two years, especially his sophomore year.

For every Justin Jackson, there's at least one Caleb Love.

he's been really high usage as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd options on some pretty poor teams.

i think the thinking is that his efficiency will go up with more talent around him.

That would certainly be the hope.

If you're HD and thinking of bringing him on, you have to dig into that to figure out if he's interested in it, though.

Raw 3Pt% is really not a great stat for measuring shooters. Volume is very important, as is FT% and type of 3PT%. Leaky Black could hit a decent percentage of those open 3s, but he wasn't a good 3 PT shooter, same with Nance.

Dude was by far Cal's best player last year and sometimes could not handle load (see game in Smith Center last year). But he would be exactly what this team needs. Unfortunately, we likely can't afford his price tag -- even with the Lubin funds now in play.

post rotation of veesaar, wilson, stevenson, high and brown is plenty, imo.

we should throw everything but the kitchen sink at stojakovic and close the door on VAL.

the game is the game, sorry pal.
I dunno man. Whenever Veesaar is out (just resting, not even getting into injury possibility) I don't see anyone who is a significant threat to the interior of the opposing defense. And Veesaar is very big and foul prone; I don't think it would be good to need him out there more than 25-28 mpg or so.

I'd love to have another guard/wing too. But I think you're being a little too dismissive of where this would leave our post rotation.
