No real difference than bringing in a bunch of one and dones like Duke. It doesn’t always work, but nothing always works.I agree that some have done it. It has its own problems.

We know we are not keeping everyone. If we keep everyone, we know we aren't competitive. How many teams did we beat with even winning records with this bunch?
Yea, I guess. If we can bring in a 7'2" 5 star center, the top player in the class, and another freshman that shoots 40% from three, and have another 5 star freshman on the bench, then we would probably be ok. But it's not in the cards for next year.No real difference than bringing in a bunch of one and dones like Duke. It doesn’t always work, but nothing always works.
Other than for money, where's Cadeau going to go? He needs to improve personally, not learn a new system at the same time. But maybe. Maybe he feels that UNC isn't maximizing his abilities, who knows?I bet Trimble stays and Cadeau leaves
Losing interest as a fan is a separate issue from effectiveness. Don't confuse the two.Yea, I guess. Either way, we simply need players. I don't really like the direction the portal is taking basketball anyway, having 8-9 new players each year will cause traditional fans to lose interest over time.
Do you believe it is harder to assimilate one or two players into the team or start with 8-9 players that have never played together before?Losing interest as a fan is a separate issue from effectiveness. Don't confuse the two.
A 5 star freshman = 4 star senior transfer. You can either bring in top 1 and done talent or you can bring in top portal talent. It is basically the same chemistry challenge either way.
Right now, Hubert is 2 for 4 with portal classes. Maybe 1.5 for 4. He needs to hit an absolute homerun this season -- a bunch of Bradys and Harrisons and Cormacs, and not so many Cades and Nances and Dawsons.
Three guys are out of eligibility and now they can have 15 guys on scholarship. There’s plenty of room to bring in needed pieces without running players off.If we keep everyone, we know we aren't competitive. How many teams did we beat with even winning records with this bunch?
It is pretty rare you have 9 portal players. Even if we have massive turnover, we probably are still going to have at least some of the contributors from last year return.Do you believe it is harder to assimilate one or two players into the team or start with 8-9 players that have never played together before?
Ultimately it comes down to talent, so I guess if you can get 8-9 really talented players in the portal each year, then it might work, I just don't see that as a sustainable long term plan.
That would only be a national championship season around here.I’d like to see a winning season that the fans are happy about.
Don’t be tedious. That would only be a national championship season around here.
Undefeated, national championship season, with the winning margins above 40…..no shrinkage on the winning margin…..That would only be a national championship season around here.
To answer your questions honestly IMHO, both Powell and Jackson declare for the pros, at least test the waters. Perhaps both go, or one goes and one returns. I doubt both return. After UNC loses a game it should have won to a team it should beat 70-80% of the time, it's time for the off-season and all the reflection and anticipation that it entails.
So, who's coming and who's going? Do Powell and Jackson go pro? Does Washington or Cadeau hit the portal? It could be a confusing and confounding interim over the next few months. Post here what you think will happen in this off-season of discontent.
But you are delaying the big money which comes in year 4, then delaying the really big money that comes with a third contract. You might make more in college for a year or two while costing yourself millions on the back end by not getting the clock started on that first NBA contract.Well these days depending on where you're drafted you can pretty much be guaranteed to make more money staying in college than going pro..
You stay in college for the money because you’re certain you WON’T make big NBA money…..you realize you’re an NBA journeyman at best. But you are delaying the big money which comes in year 4, then delaying the really big money that comes with a third contract. I stayed in college for 4 years because I knew once I got out, my parents would stop supporting me financially and I’d have to get a full time job. And if I stayed for a 5th year, I knew they’d stop supporting me financially, and I’d have to pay for that 5th year. You stay in college for the money because you’re certain you WON’T make big NBA money…..you realize you’re an NBA journeyman at best.
