He's too short. He's a back up guard who will see maybe 10 mpg
? There's no indication he will be anything less than a starter

There is every indication he's going to be our starting PG. Whether or not that's a good thing for our prospects next year is up for debate.6'2" gym rats are fun, in the rec league.

Sherrell said on the IC reaction pod last night that UNC would be looking for another veteran guard in the portal, and I think that makes sense. But I would expect it to be more like a Wojcik type than a starter-caliber player.Curious to see if we are done looking for guards in the portal
Not sure but we're up to 5 guards, correct?Curious to see if we are done looking for guards in the portal
If we are indeed still looking for another “veteran guard” (and we land one) I hope it would be as a starter… then my prediction of Evans being a back up, or perhaps battling for the starting position, holds.Sherrell said on the IC reaction pod last night that UNC would be looking for another veteran guard in the portal, and I think that makes sense. Evans is a wiry, handsome Manly ManRamrouser is not going to like this at all.
You can hope all you want but Evans is definitely coming here with the expectation of being a starter, and that clearly is what Sherrell expects too. A better PG is not just going to fall into our lap. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of putting all our eggs in a Evans/Trimble backcourt, but I also don't think it's particularly likely that Xaivian Lee is coming at this point, and that's the only guy I can see on our radar who would push Evans to the benchIf we are indeed still looking for another “veteran guard” (and we land one) I hope it would be as a starter… then my prediction of Evans being a back up, or perhaps battling for the starting position, holds.
And a/the problem is that HD hasn't deviated much from his offensive scheme(s) since taking over, and is even less likely to do so now.Damn NYC in here raining on paradesBut that is accurate....
You're looking at having to run a very different offense next season if Evans is your lead guard
++shooter though which does fit very nicely next to Trimble
Hopefully he doesn’t turn the ball over as much as EC. I don’t care about flashy passes to nobody… just make the smart, easy play. If Evans can give us that, along with those great shooting %’s (47, 45 and 85) and some hard nosed D, then fine. He made a nice jump from Frosh to Soph… being the gym rat he is, perhaps he can continue that upward climb. If so, we may be pleasantly surprised with him and Seth as our back court. You can hope all you want but Evans is definitely coming here with the expectation of being a starter, and that clearly is what Sherrell expects too. I don't think anyone is allowed to feel good on this threadWell, now I don't feel so good about Evans being a starting PG.
some people in this thread are being a bit glass half empty about him.Well, now I don't feel so good about Evans being a starting PG.
Not sure I see that. Clayton has always been a more physical player; as a sophomore at Iona, he was listed 20 pounds heavier than Evans and was a lot more impactful defensively and as a rebounder. He also handled a much heavier usage load (albeit at a lower level than where Evans was playing). I see the similarities in their shooting profile but Evans will have to make a big lead to have that sort of "lead scoring guard" profile (and to be fair he did make a big jump in just about every category between his freshman and sophomore years, which gives some hope that he's on a steep development curve). He has a similar profile to Walter Clayton JR.
The shooting splits are indeed elite. The question is whether he can fill the role of a high-usage guard who brings a lot of scoring and playmaking, which is not a role he's had to fill before.some people in this thread are being a bit glass half empty about him.
his shooting splits are pretty damn elite.

Well aren’t you just a happy little ray of sunshine.3.1 apg versus 1.9 TOV/game.
He’s a slightly short (6’2”) combo guard. Combo guards are short SG’s people hope become PG’s. They rarely do.
He “only” averaged 10.6 ppg. He shot well; but, he wasn’t a high volume shooter. He did shoot 85% from the line; so, the odds are his mechanics are good.
I doubt he answers the need at PG.
