Well—it happened. Just received notice that I’ve been laid off, effective at the end of the month.

Most of my work was based on contracts with CDC, CMS, and NIH. That work has dried up significantly over the past few months, thanks to Trump. And so…here we are.

Fuck me.
Sorry to hear that. I hope this is a minimal disruption and you can be working again soon with a company that isn't going to allow some idiot to cut labor with no rhyme or reason.

Well sure, but Ramrouser is EXTREMELY happy about DOGE. So who knows what’s right?

Ramrouser and his fellow cultists LOVE this for you. Remember that.

So sorry. That really sucks. I hope you're able to pivot or adjust to a new position as quickly as possible. I know it's a very stressful time.

WRONG. While I support DOGE generally and broadly, that doesn't mean I'm happy or gleeful about any individual's personal job loss. That sucks.
Coward.

You were cheering for these stupid and indiscriminate cuts understanding full well that they would result in many people losing their jobs.

Have the courage of your "convictions" here.

To be clear, my organization has let go about 30% of our staff—around 625 people. Another couple hundred are working reduced hours.

This isn’t about any individual’s job loss (though I won’t lie—it hurts). It’s about the fact that DOGE’s deep, indiscriminate cuts to key scientific and healthcare institutions have already severely crippled our country in ways that you’re either ignorant of or support.

So you support the program, just not its results? Keep telling yourself that.
It’s the existential problem with DOGE and the cost-cutting impulses behind it. Our federal spending is already damn lean, which means if there’s “waste” to be cut, it will almost certainly be jobs that the cost-cutters deem superfluous or unnecessary. It’s logically impossible to support DOGE while regretting the job losses from DOGE cuts.

See, that's the problem with folks like you. You "care" but always just up to the point where it interferes with your perogatives...then it's all thoughts and prayers.

Were you unhappy when Clinton/Gore ended more than 100 programs and ended positions for hundreds of thousands of government employees?

They did it in a much more grownup way, including not replacing employees who retire. It wasn’t the slapdash approach of DOGE.

I don’t think anyone is opposed to an intelligent approach to right sizing the government

Are you not cheering for illegal immigrants when they take the jobs of citizens when you promote open borders?
