LOL. You just can't comprehend what it's like to know things. AI didn't tell me about Grutter v Bollinger. I know it. I know the holding, what the case was about, how O'Connor approached the issue, etc. And that, factually speaking as you can see, is where DEI came from.

I never ask AI for help advancing or refuting arguments. I don't need to. I've been doing this since long before chat GPT was even a concept.

Most of the other lawyers on the board would, I imagine, be far closer to me on this issue than to you.

Given that I'm white I don't think it's racist to say immigrants, whether legal or undocumented, work ten times harder than most of the toothless honkies who vote for Donald Trump. It's no secret the immigrants do all the jobs the disgusting, lazy whites who make serial applications for disability until they get the right liberal judge won't do. The immigrants pay plenty into the system too, and the undocumented ones have no hope of ever getting anything back for it. Meanwhile, these broke ass lazy whites live some bizarre Walter Mitty existence voting for Trump and rationalizing they deserve their entitlements while nobody else does.

So in my initial post, I mentioned possible impacts for my girlfriend (ex, to be fair, though still friends).

She’s an immigration attorney, specifically focusing on asylum seekers from Latin America. Most of her clients are women, kids, and indigenous folks.

She works for a nonprofit based in New Jersey.

She just texted me that hers was one of 200 nonprofit immigration law/advocacy orgs to get inquiries from Congress suggesting that they’re accused of “using taxpayer dollars to facilitate illegal activity.”

This is how the NY Post and other right-wing media are portraying it:

House panel demands records of more than 200 NGOs that nabbed billions of taxpayer dollars to ‘fuel’ border crisis​


She’s in a panic that she and her colleagues may be targeted by the Admin and charged with crimes they didn’t commit, crimes against the state, etc.

And this is the intent of such a letter, right? To scare the shit out of anyone who assists immigrants in any way, to threaten jail or worse, to stifle all lawful activities and rights for immigrants.

The fact that this is distinctly in the realm of possibility is more evidence that we’re so very fucked as a country.

But can you at least countenance the idea that Trump’s policies and tactics run contrary to the law and actually do harm to our country, its people, and people in your community?

I don't know enough to comment on your friend's situation. I reject the premise of your question that I "don't give a shit" about any impact governmental policies have on individuals.

What I do know is that the broader, left wing immigration groups and professionals are a large part of the current problem. These groups convinced Biden's Politburo (Klein) to completely open the borders for 3 years while gaslighting America. We are now on the correction phase of this horrendous policy -as voted on by the electorate. Deporting the 15-20M illegal aliens let into the country the last 4 years will not pretty or easy (and that was the point).

The number of illegals in the USA has been roughly the same since its peak in 2007.
I’m not an expert but that is what a quick google search tells me.
