I am a straight white male, 73 years old and relatively wealthy . I don't worry too much how the Trump presidency will affect me and the missus personally over the short run...

They are politically well informed teens at 14 and 17yo...certainly more informed than the average MAGA. They are not doomsday cynics and remain hopeful that their elders will be able protect our democracy and survive the Trump/MAGA threat to it.

I tell them that is our ( anyone over 30yo ? ) responsibility, and their responsibility is not to succumb to self pity and cynicism.

Or are you - in the above position - still going to wring your hands over the current situations, even though you may somehow be buffered from any ill-effects?

Is it time to finally throw up your hands and say fuck it. I’m good. I’ll just fly under the radar, do my job, mow my grass, drink my libations, watch my sports on TV, placate my spouse, do the best I can for the kids and grandkids. Tune out, turn on and live my life as quietly as possible and hope for the best.
