How will a Trump presidency affect you?

I am a white, straight 57 year old within 5 years of a reasonably comfortable retirement. Kids college is paid for. I have no concerns for myself except SS solvency. However, one kid finished UNC in music and psychology about 1.5 years ago and is trying to make it with his band, so he has to deal with housing costs and will need Obama care in a couple of years. The other kid is a senior and will prolly go to grad school, so he will need housing in 3ish years. Those are my concerns.

Wait until Trump starts trying to pull licenses from some of these media outlets. That might have been why they treated him with kid’s gloves, fear of his retribution. That’s what is frustrating, he doesn’t get elected, no retribution. But instead they made it easier for him to get elected.

Theres just a lot of over-reactions understandably. Trumps gonna golf a large majority of the time. Every now and then will throw his pigs a tiny bit of slop like sending abortion back to the states and fox news will make the slop look like filets. Were there some casualties of war of that decision? Certainly. Were some unwanted babies saved? Certainly. Again....the mofo gonna golf and make more millions like he did the first time. The end is coming is nothing more than butt hurt politics.
 
IMO Thomas and Alito may retire in the next 2 years. Even though they will go younger, you cant get much worse. And Aileen Cannon will be like AG which is hilariously incompetent

this is incredibly naive. he is surrounded by a much more capable and evil machine this time around. while he's golfing, they are going to be fucking everyone over.
 
In his first term, he had people in his inner circle who would occasionally say, "You can't do that," or "You should't do that." Those people won't be around anymore. Military vs US citizens on US soil? Check. Use of the DoJ against people who disagree with the president? Check. Appointing incompetent synchphants to lead government agencies? Check. Making deals with foreign leaders for perspnal benefit? Check. Nepotism? Check. Pressure on freedom of the press? Check. The list goes on.
 
It's more the infestation of sycophants and those with intent to really do harm. It's the rest of the Trump administration. All you've got to do is ingratiate yourself and voila you have power over some area of government. The damage that can be wrought especially with Trump older and more removed from day-to-day decision making can be...a bit scary to think about.

Trump's actions will come from the biggest bootlickers. He's probably forgotten all his "concepts of plans" other than talking sh!t about Biden. ScheduleF from project2025 is a means to replace many folks in gov with extremists... will he let that happen? That depends on what is in it for him. Likewise he isn't going to deport people cuz he actually has a problem with immigrants, he'll only take action if he sees some benefit to his ego.

I think Ukraine is probably the first victim since Putin has his ear. We'll see if the tariff stuff is ever set into motion as he described. Ditto for repealing obamacare. The repubs are going to need to manufacture some "crisis" for attacking dems in 2026... so what talking-point is that?

Now JD Vance... that's another story, he seems like he probably has an agenda or mission.

project25 is actually a real thing drafted by his former and future cabinet members. it's what the republican party has been moving toward for years, and now they have the entire government at their disposal to put it in action. it's not insanity to believe they'll do what they say they'll do. insanity is thinking they won't.

honestly think congress will just pass a bill changing the name to Trump care and that will be good enough for all parties in on that move, including his base.

Thats a lot of party induced drama, but i understand completely why you believe like you do. I was controlled by one of the partys years ago.

Stock Market crash mainly. Tariffs/tanking the economy. Messing with my Medicare and SS. Other than that he can't really touch me. Sure, I'll "feel bad" for a ton of other folks... but at the end of the day he can't really touch me other than what I've listed. My feelings are hurt... not much else that is tangible. I'm way more fortunate than others - at 65 and retired, house paid for, no kids or grandkids.... Maybe playing footsie with other authoritarians? Withdrawing from NATO?
