How pathetic does it feel to hide your tag?Any dissenting opinions should be viewed as disinformation and the purveyors of the disinformation should be labeled as idiot, mouth breathing trolls.
We must keep this site pure for the sake of the party.
My first ignoreWe must protect this site comrade. Only information approved by the party should be shared.

If more people used it, there would be so many less problems on message boards. In the past I have asked for a forced ignore feature for hopeless cases where two posters ruin every thread they post on. You see that a lot on the basketball board with certain posters. While I hardly ever used it on the old board, I’ve found my first test case for the “Ignore” feature on this one. Thanks for making it so easy, person who knows who they are!
Trolling is an artform and you have no artistic ability. Kind of embarrassing watching you regurgitate the same line repeatedly.Nonsense…. This is exactly what we have been striving for!!
One Party, One rule. Dissenting opinions should be met with ridicule and the offending party should be ostracized.
There is no place here for anyone that speaks against The Party and the ultimate end goal.
I'm generally a person that hasn't used the ignore function on IC very often because I like to mix it up. But, in trying to turn over a new leaf on this board and be more about debate than confrontation, I'm going to use the ignore hammer when I feel like the person is an obvious troll. How pathetic does it feel to hide your tag?
Just disappointed in the low effort. First pass attempt and it failed spectacularly.I'm generally a person that hasn't used the ignore function on IC very often because I like to mix it up. Callatoroy? Never liked him on IC. Don't agree with him on anything. But he's been relatively decent since coming over to this board, so I can do the same for him.
KarlMarxism? Already on ignore. I know a troll when I see one. This guy isn't a Sarcastro clone or anything benevolent and clever like that. He's from IC, and he obviously has felt wronged by the liberals over there. He's hear to stir the pot.
My guess? OCS. I recommend we all test out this ignore function on him and see how good it works.
I have a pretty good built-in ignore function (though it failed me every now and then), so I never tried out the available ignore function over at IC.As someone who managed to never get banned, have a meaningful number of post removed from the old board (2-3 maybe) or constantly reminded to stay on subject, it's pretty easy to spot who the trouble makers are. Those posters usually push things to an extreme point over and over and that causes people to react in a negative way and then said posters cry foul because they don't like the pushback or the moderation. I think reading a whole lot more than posting probably allows for a broader perspective on how things evolve on threads. That way you're not as invested is the back and forth bickering but you see how it got to that point.
Anyway, I'm not really that good of a boy as I've reacted negatively to plenty of post the same way myself. And I hate to even put this out there, but the one person I would trust to judge a poster's character/intentions, would be NYCFAN. She stays above the fray and who I would trust to make the tough calls.
You can proceed to request my banning NYCFAN for even dragging your name into this conversation and I couldn't quibble. lol
Troll’s had bouncers? If you remember Troll's Bar in Chapel Hill and its bouncers, this site has the even more formidable AI Terminator bouncers.
What’s a “forced ignore feature?”If more people used it, there would be so many less problems on message boards. In the past I have asked for a forced ignore feature for hopeless cases where two posters ruin every thread they post on. You see that a lot on the basketball board with certain posters.
I think he means giving a moderator the ability to put two posters mutually on Ignore toward each other. What’s a “forced ignore feature?”
Basically a moderator setting which prevents poster A and poster B from seeing each other's posts. There have been years long fights between posters on premium, which despite many moderation interventions, mediations and even temp bannings, just do not go away. Forced ignore would be a step between these and permanently banning two paying customers who were both equally guilty. What’s a “forced ignore feature?”

If only it existed on the 247 software. The 247 techs showed no interest in wanting to program it, thought it would be fairly easy - the tech already exists for the ignore function, it is just giving moderators the power to set the flag on the account. On the original ezboard software that IC used about 20 years ago, i was able to do this when I could put custom javascript into the header and footer of a page. I could do all sorts of things, like make a person's text appear pink for them only. I of course didn't do that but...That is an intriguing option — I had proposed a “Take it Outside” thread to send these types to hash it out, but that obviously could spiral. This makes more sense.
It’s the lies, racism, homophobic, and misogynistic stuff that needs to be weeded out.Do you want this to become a vibrant and interesting site, reminiscent of the old zzl? Or do you want it to morph into a protected domain of a handful of like-minded poasters, similar to the last few years of the zzlp? Honest questions.
I prefer the former. Less moderation fosters a greater expression of ideas and, to me, a much more enjoyable and entertaining site experience. I recognize the need for some level of moderation (no porn, no death threats, no illegal activity) but censoring others’ political viewpoints or ideas will eventually and inevitably lead to the latter option above. Plus, for those that don’t really “LOVE LOVE LOVE” to hear opposing viewpoints (looking at you CLT), the ignore button should be a sufficient defense against reading someone else’s hurtful ideas
Honest to God, it’s hard for me to understand these calls and absolute longing for more moderation by some folks. Very hard to understand.
God, that would be awesome. That way the troll keeps posting shit and nobody ever replies because no one sees it. That's better than an actual ban.Basically a moderator setting which prevents poster A and poster B from seeing each other's posts. The devils is in the details, though. The obvious stuff (slurs etc.) is obvious. It’s the lies, racism, homophobic, and misogynistic stuff that needs to be weeded out.
Opposing views are great those things are not.
