You’re exactly what Dean had in mind when he built this program. Generosity of spirit, family, class, integrity, honor.Yep...HD was below the standards of UNC basketball...hopefully the next coach can live up to it.
Appreciate the kind words and glad you are capable of recognizing those qualities in me.You’re exactly what Dean had in mind when he built this program. Generosity of spirit, family, class, integrity, honor.
He would be so proud!
Interesting...I hope IC is able to do a deep dive into this some day. Unfortunately they weren't able to do it with BB for a variety of reasons."Davis did not ride the team bus back to North Carolina after Thursday's loss, per a source, though that is hardly an anomaly when a team travels locally and it was already the plan going into the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. When the team arrived back on campus Friday afternoon, Davis' car had already left the parking lot and he did not communicate with his staff for nearly 24 hours. Players were left to wait and speculate."

Hubert Davis fired as UNC coach after five years, ushering in historic break from Carolina family tradition
A stunning NCAA Tournament collapse, eroding donor support and mounting internal pressure culminated in North Carolina cutting ties, a move that breaks the program's 70-year coaching lineagewww.cbssports.com

Just read that article too. Super weird man. I get that emotions can run high after a game like that but wtf."Davis did not ride the team bus back to North Carolina after Thursday's loss, per a source, though that is hardly an anomaly when a team travels locally and it was already the plan going into the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I definitely think losing that game the way we did is what finished him. If we had held on and won that game - even by just one point - then he would very likely be returning next year, for better or worse, even if we had lost to Illinois. Losing that VCU game the way we did was the straw that broke the camel's back for the boosters, alumni, and powers-that-be, imo. And his postgame presser didn't help. So the Dean Smith coaching tree and legacy at UNC is done, and now we have to hope the people doing the hiring are able to find a superior replacement. So did VCU end Hubert? If the Heels win that game is he back?
Would winning that game and getting blasted by the Illini done it?
Didn't it say he wasn't scheduled to ride back with the team?Just read that article too. Super weird man. I get that emotions can run high after a game like that but wtf.
I vote for a new thread.Should we discuss future coach possibilities here or start a new thread for that?
I wouldn’t know anything about that.Should we discuss future coach possibilities here or start a new thread for that?
It said that it's not unusual in the circumstance where the team has bused in from such a short distance.Didn't it say he wasn't scheduled to ride back with the team?
What is the point of continuing to hide behind Dean to refuse to acknowledge the simple fact that Hubert wasn’t good enough for one of the top jobs in college bball? You’re exactly what Dean had in mind when he built this program. Generosity of spirit, family, class, integrity, honor.
He would be so proud!
I suspect he knew that his time as UNC head coach was finished after that game. And so he was upset, first for losing the game, and second because he suspected he was going to be fired. Pretty good reasons to be extremely upset.Just read that article too. Super weird man. I get that emotions can run high after a game like that but wtf.
Yep, losing the way we did plus the abysmal press conference after sunk him. Ending the season with glaring and painful reminders of all the ways HD has struggled with the job.I definitely think losing that game the way we did is what finished him.
