That was a 3 point game with just over 2 minutes to play. The injuries certainly could have been a factor in the outcome.Yeah, they were losing the Miami game before the injuries, too.

So you believe they were going to lose 5 or 6 of 8 after the duke game?
I don't think there's any indication of that at all
Even the unfavorable advanced metrics would have this team winning more than that
Yeah- they lost Miami (5th loss)
Loss at NCSU (6th loss), one of Louisville/Clemson (7th loss), at Duke (8th loss). Syracuse on the road is not a given (we are 3-5 on the road in the ACC)...but I'll give that to us. We would beat VT at home. That closes the regular season at 23-8. Loss in the ACC tournament, loss in the NCAA tournament = 10 losses. Even if you believe we sweep Louisville and Clemson that leaves us with 9 losses.
After the dook game, KenPom had us predicted at 8 loses (losses remaining: Miami, State, Louisville, dook) after the regular season. Add in a loss in the ACCT & the NCAAT and that would put us at a 10-loss team at the end of the season before the injuries. So you believe they were going to lose 5 or 6 of 8 after the duke game?

Absolutely not.Prior to the injuries, we were playing around the level of a borderline top-25 team. That is with the best freshmen we've seen in a very long time, and a 14 million dollar roster (which, outside of UK, is probably the highest in the country - according to Greg). If things go as expected, that will be 4 mediocre, at best, regular seasons out of 5.
I've asked this before, to no responses, but I feel lucky today...If we continue to see the same results going forward, is that good enough for HD to continue leading the way? If not, how much more do you need to see before you give up on him as the head coach?
Don't be confusing them with the facts.Wilson played 40 mins against dook. He sat 6 in FH against Miami. Played sparingly and hurt second half. Vesscar appeared sick. We clearly were not healthy in that game.
Depends on when/if Wilson and Veesaar come back. If they both come back I could see a postseason run. In fact I think we'd be an incredibly difficult team to seed if that happens. A late regular season slide without them could result in an 8/9 type seed, but I'd be pissed if I was a 1 seed that got matched up against a fully healthy UNC team. What do we think the over/under on remaining wins (including postseason) is?
3?
Depends on if and when Caleb and Henri are back. I can see them winning 5 more if Caleb were back without Henri. Maybe 3 of the regular season games left, 1 in the ACC tournament, and 1 in the NCAA tournament. Without them both maybe 3 at most. What do we think the over/under on remaining wins (including postseason) is?
3?
It’s not as hard as we make it out to be though. We return well below the average (and even lower than most good teams)Yeah, but it can keep the team competitive in the meantime. It's very difficult to build continuity now. The best players go pro the role player transfer out.
I know Veesaar is listed as questionable but I get the feeling that there's no way he plays on Saturday. Does any think it's actually a possibility?I didn't see a Cuse game thread, so I'll post this here:
Hubert Davis told reporters this afternoon that Veesaar continues to make improvements and is expected to participate in practice today in a limited capacity. Veesaar is questionable for Saturday's game at Syracuse.
Yes. Some scuttlebutt that his side wants a guaranty that he will be paid next year if he gets an Achilles injury from playing this year. Once the assurance is in place, I believe he will play.I know Veesaar is listed as questionable but I get the feeling that there's no way he plays on Saturday.
