Just not the same now with teams being completely different every year. I guess it's really more the way the portal is now then them getting paid.
Thats the big thing for me
Of course at this point I consider Vessar and Wilson etc Carolina Boys-took a while

It's definitely not the same but people are still showing up and spending their money.

I didn't see a Cuse game thread, so I'll post this here:

Hubert Davis told reporters this afternoon that Veesaar continues to make improvements and is expected to participate in practice today in a limited capacity. Veesaar is questionable for Saturday's game at Syracuse.

Morning of...Game Thread.

On the season they were playing around a borderline top-25 team. I'm sure there are a few game stretches were they were playing better than that, and worse than that.

The latest 5 included a healthy roster and lineups featuring Dixon over Evans

Better indicator of where this team was pre-injuries imo

The actual results/resume pre-injuries was #21 (ETA: #21 was after the NCST loss)

Cal was when Evans' minutes dropped and Dixon's shot up. During that stretch, Cal - Miami, they ranked 35th by Torvik.

Through games played on 2/9 (so before the Miami game on the 10th), we were 25th in BartTorvik and 26th in KenPom.
Suppose we were 15th. Would that be OK? 10th? It feels like you're putting a lot of emphasis on a few spots of performance, which can be largely random.

just an observation.

I interpreted the post to mean for the regular season. 9-10 total does sound right

4-5 seed and 8-10 losses is what this roster projected to be before the season

Caleb was better than expected, others were worse
Ah, ok.

I think the expectations coming into the season were a bit more varied...the ACC Media folks predicted us to finish 3rd in the conference (I believe we were 5th going into the Miami game) while KenPom had us 33rd coming into the season (and we were 26th before the Miami game).

I think we were roughly within projections from the start of the season, but I'm not sure that means that we were actually doing well.

If we were a significantly better team than we actually were, that would have certainly been an improvement.

If we're going to pretend that things were going differently, why not pretend we're undefeated and #1?

I’m down with that idea. Can we get a pretend natty too?

24th*

Those aren't resume (W/L) based metrics. Which are running ahead of predictive

This team was close to 21-2 and 20+ in KenPom

It would have been nice to beat Stanford and Cal. Oh well
