Curious when people will actually acknowledge Hubert is growing as a coach. Recruiting good. Better out of timeouts and drew up game winner. Rotations better. Seems to win a lot of second halfs. 19-4. Wins over dook , Kentucky, Kansas and Virginia. Maybe he should get a raise instead of getting fired.
This is my original post today. It was sincere. I have not mentioned anyone by name. I know snoop is not Hubert guy but not even sure where most others fall.

They care way more about thought policing the message board and brow beating everyone into having the same bland Pollyanna opinions than they do about the actual results or celebrating the wins.

I haven’t participated in the original topic of this thread and haven’t even said anything critical of the big picture coaching situation at all on here since the season started, and I’m still getting chastised for being too silent about it lol. They’re incapable of having any semblance of good faith discussion. It’s absurdly obnoxious.
You don't see it but you do the same thing on the other side.

You took the original personal shots, not me.

I don't know you. While I may have seen you somewhere, I doubt it and know that I was unaware of it at the time. But believe it or not, our backgrounds really aren't that different. You really need to start enjoying this board for what it is, a place predominantly filled with aging Baby Boomers with nothing else to do than talk shit. I don't come to learn anything or post here to teach others anything. I get my "news" from places other than an internet bulletin board. The part of my career where I had to teach people something in order to provide competent services to them are long gone. To quote Robert Heinlein from 1973, "Never attempt to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig."

1. 2026 has been an incredibly depressing year already. Politics is terrible. The country is going to hell. The weather has been god awful. The football program looks bad. People are tense, unhappy, anxious and frustrated.

2. One would have thought that a big win over Duke could unify us, at least on this one issue. It's not a salve for the major issues upsetting us, but maybe a small oasis in a desert? I guess not. I don't understand why some of you need to continue to fight about all of this.

3. It depresses me to see the infighting and I know for a fact I'm not the only one.

4. How about a truce until the end of the season? Nothing is going to happen until then anyway. Instead, let's just focus on cheering for the team. I think everyone here agrees that if HD makes the Final Four again this year, that he will stick around and deserve to. We also agree that if we choke down the stretch, limp into the NCAA tourney and get washed out early, he probably needs to go. So why not wait for the data to come in instead of arguing incessantly? I mean, the anti-HD crowd will look incredibly dumb if we get a top 3 seed and make the Final Four. Why do that?

5. Enjoy victories. Defeats suck. We will lose some more games. We don't have a perfect team, and yet we're still doing OK. Don't argue among ourselves. It is toxic.

That sounds great but they will be out in full force after the next L.

I'll do my part though, if nobody posts about firing Hubert I won't make any posts defending him.

Whoever likes it or not, HD is coaching for his job and that's a topic that is interesting to folks before the end of the season.

I think the best agreement we can likely make is to keep such discussion on this thread. If we simply don't take up this topic on the ritmos threads and keep the discussion limited to this thread, then it can be easily avoidable for those who don't want to read it by simply avoiding this thread.

I do not necessarily want to reboot this whole deal, but I also want my position to be mine, and not assigned. Someone said that those who support Hubert are doing so out of some kind of loyalty to him or whatever, and those who are anti or whatever word folks want to use support the program.
As for the original hire, I supported Hubert mostly because Roy did. Who would have better info than Roy? If it has been Wes Miller, that would have been fine too, although right now Wes not looking so hot.
I have wavered at times on the Hubert hire but had not really gone on Facebook or here and vented. Year 2 I dismissed as just chemistry issues, and the fact we caught lightning in the bottle year prior, but he was within 4 points and a healthy Bacot of a natty. Year 3 good, year 4, not so much.
This year I have seen him build the roster, as indicated earlier I think he is growing as a coach, and to the list I would add I don't think we have had UNC teams, certainly not Roy's, average 10 TOs a game. I won't rehash what I see as other positive trends in coaching.
But here is why I support him: AT THIS POINT, I think he is the best man for the job. Notice how no one ever beats down our door when the position is available. I actually believe he is coaching much better, recruiting well (come on down Dylan), etc. Yea, I like the guy but I also think he is growing as a coach and is not close to his ceiling. So is it is not some blind loyalty to Hubert, or the Carolina Way, etc. This year the team has rallied from 16 down at Virginia and 13 down to dook, with wins over Kentucky at Rupp and Kansas. He also gave us the gift of Caleb Wilson.
I think he is the right guy.

This is pretty close to how I feel. Frankly, I'm not overwhelmed with Hubert's personality but as you say, right now, imo, he has the most to offer after taking both his improvements in coaching and his connections to tradition into consideration.

I can't trust anyone who supports BB, 79. ;)
