I'm guessing he will get the vast majority, if not the entirety, of what we'd owe him if we fired him and he'll be allowed to resign (unless he were to absolutely refuse, which I doubt he'll do).I will say this
If Huberts contract says pay him X million if we fire him
Pay him
I don't mean this as a call out of tarheelbillie, but this is a good post to ask this question.I wish Hubert would tell UNC to pay him what he is owed, give 'em the finger and fucking leave. He is a nice person and doesn't deserve this BS.
Who knows? What happens if there are meetings? "I'm sorry, I can neither confirm or deny I'm coaching next year. How's the weather?". Sounds like a waste of time to me. Somebody should have cancelled.I imagine that it was HD who cancelled/postponed these meetings.
Everyone wants to give the finger to their employer at least occasionally. It’s just bartalk.I don't mean this as a call out of tarheelbillie, but this is a good post to ask this question.
I've seen a few posts like this (here and elsewhere) that essentially wish that HD would make a defiant show of rebellion on his way out.
What is the purpose behind wishing/rooting for this?
It would do immeasurable damage to the program and everyone involved - including HD and his supporters - would come out looking worse for it. Why would you want that to happen?
Eh, I think for people who are upset that the firing is happening this is one way to express it.I don't mean this as a call out of tarheelbillie, but this is a good post to ask this question.

To be clear, he’s not saying we’re going to hire Stevens, just that there’s an ongoing discussion between UNC and him.I remember him from years ago. It was clear he had some serious connections but there were a few times he was bad wrong.
Not sure I agree with that. The last 5 years for each:Carolina has been far better over the past 5 years than Kentucky.
I was saying that for him to postpone/cancel the meetings leads to thinking that he’s pushing back on being asked to resign. If he was going to step down/already has I would think that he would still have the meetings to talk about the past season, what the player improved on and what he thinks they should focus on going forward. But you are right, there’s no way to know at this point.Who knows? What happens if there are meetings? "I'm sorry, I can neither confirm or deny I'm coaching next year. How's the weather?". Sounds like a waste of time to me. Somebody should have cancelled.
Sure, but I would imagine Carolina fans would have as much interest in things working out of the "employer" as for the "employee" in this case.Everyone wants to give the finger to their employer at least occasionally. It’s just bartalk.
Life comes at you fast on a coach change thread.whoops somehow missed last two pages of this thread.
Quibbles with what?Apparently the "quibbles" are not financial related according to Ben.
As to why the announcement hasn't been made yet. Hopefully HD isn't resisting and trying to get RW to rally supportQuibbles with what?
Not as big of a strain (and stain) as they’ll put on the athletic department this coming 3-9/4-8/2-10 season. There was an article posted earlier in this thread (or maybe the VCU game thread) saying basically that UNC is "severely cash-strapped" due to paying a fortune to Belichick and his sons and buddies and to making "upgrades" to the football program. Of course I have a hunch that if our boosters really want a top-notch basketball coach they'll come up with the money somewhere. Nonetheless, there's little doubt that BB & Company have put a real strain on our athletic budget.
Randy Weil, Larry Brown was given a “courtesy, reach around interview,” George Karl couldn’t get out of his Milwaukee Bucks contract…….My recall of that process is pretty hazy given that it was 26 years ago and I was out of the country for the whole thing.
Do you remember all the folks we interviewed/seriously considered for the role before hiring Doh?
