I am sure the greatest healthcare system in the world can handle losing 30% of its doctors.

But tech is also far from the only industry that counts on specialized labor from overseas. According to the Business Standard, over 30% of medical residents in the United States are international graduates, and between 10,000 to 43,000 residency spots are currently filled by H-1B visa holders. There is an ongoing doctor shortage in the country that was expected to worsen without new restrictions. The Association of American Medical Colleges projected a shortage of 20,200 to 40,400 primary care doctors by 2036, prior to the new H-1B fees.
Another blow to healthcare in smaller towns and rural communities.

California became the first state to ban most law enforcement, including federal immigration agents, from covering their faces while conducting official business under a bill signed Saturday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The ban is a direct response to recent immigration raids in Los Angeles, where federal agents wore masks while making mass arrests. The raids prompted days of protest across and led U.S. President Donald Trump to deploy National Guard troops and Marines to the area.

Newsom said California is unique in that 27 per cent of its residents are foreign born.

“We celebrate that diversity. It’s what makes California great. It’s what makes America great. It is under assault,” he said at a news conference in Los Angeles. “This is the United States of America.”

The Democratic governor said the state is pushing back against the practice of masked agents without identification or badge numbers detaining people on the streets.

“The impact of these policies all across this city, our state and nation are terrifying,” Newsom said. “It’s like a dystopian sci-fi movie. Unmarked cars, people in masks, people quite literally disappearing. No due process, no rights, no right in a democracy where we have rights. Immigrants have rights, and we have the right to stand up and push back, and that’s what we’re doing here today.”

But it’s unclear how -- or whether -- the state can enforce the ban on federal agents. A homeland security official called the legislation “despicable” in a statement this week, adding that the ban would put officers in danger.

“… “CNN is trying to obscure the fact that each of the illegal alien parents they are defending willingly chose to break our nation’s criminal and administrative laws and as a result of those choices, are responsible for what happens to their children – just as any U.S. citizen parent who breaks the law is when they are taken to jail,” the spokesperson said….”

Chavez Jr., the son of longtime boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, entered the country on a tourist visa in August 2023, which expired in February 2024, according to Thursday’s release.

DHS officials say Chavez Jr. made fraudulent statements on his recent immigration application and has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for alleged involvement “in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives,” according to the release.

Bye to this guy too if he's not a citizen...

Well, if people wearing masks who don't identify themselves with the proper ID try to grab someone off the streets and shove them in a van then it would be reasonable for that person to think they were being kidnapped and defend themselves.

I read this ignorance all the time on social media. These idiots are so brainwashed.
The constant discussion of jobs being taken. This woman could start working for door dash in the time she was ranting, but they don't, because it's not about the job it's their racism.

I laugh at these same conversations in regard to the H1B visa holders. Maybe if those who are bitching about the jobs were qualified the employers would hire them. No one is taking a job from you, if you are not qualified to do the job.
