Banking? The government handed out money and then decided not to make millions of people repay hundreds of billions. If that isn't adding to the debt, then the word "debt" means, then someone is redefining "debt".
You're the idiot supporting the wars in the Middle East, so spare me any indignation over federal spending and debt levels.

I figured you meant from the student's point of view.

From the government's point of view, it's exactly assuming debt. But that doesn't mean what you think it does. What you want to ask about government spending is whether it is plausibly net present value positive. If so, it's probably going to be good or at least not terrible. If you want to take aim at federal spending, begin and end with the military. We can cut the other stuff later if we still need to.
Sorry, but given the track record of the federal government, there's nothing "good" about plopping a trillion more onto the debt, because any fiscal benefit, in the form of tax revenue from those no longer in debt from student loans, will just be spent along with billions more we don't have.

I'm saying that if spending is your concern, then be concerned about all unnecessary spending, not just the spending from the other party.
Think about how foolish that is... even as an excuse for which you know is a flawed and simple POV.

If you're saving money in your household is all spending the same?

One of these helps Americans economically at least on the short term... but one of them drives up cost everywhere.

One of the problems existed(student debt), the other we created by the "solution".

One of them kills people AND drives up costs AND hurts America as a nation with our partners and global reputation... one of them makes American citizens more solvent and happy.

I know you don't really want to talk about the topics or learn, but it's interesting to see you try to carve out a lane to be right.

This one is pretty pathetic...even for you.

If we keep the Republicans out of power, the records show that we don't do so badly. Almost all the national debt has been created under them, especially Reagan and Trump. Trump's not even done.

Great. The Dems are the pumps on the Titanic are delaying it sinking.

Edit: I'll just note that most recent Dem Presidential candidate's fiscal plan, to claim a balanced budget, included taxing UNREALIZED capital gains, which is ridiculous on its face.... and was never... ever... going to happen.

Go back 70 years and see that it's not a whimsy.

The Republicans are on the tugboats steadying the iceberg so even their incompetent imbecile captain can't miss it.

For families with a net worth over $100 million only.

It's a blockade of ships attempting to reach Iranian ports. Ships going to and from the Gulf States are fine. USA is the new gatekeeper of the Strait not Iran.
Iran is also a gatekeeper.

And what exactly is the strategy? We're going to keep our ships in the Indian Ocean for the indefinite future? The problem with trying to gain concessions with a blockade is that you have to enforce the concessions with a blockade. And that we cannot do.

It won't take that long for Iran's economy to crumble. 90% of their economy is exporting oil. In a very short time all of their reserves will be full, meaning they will need to stop the production of oil. China will pressure Iran to settle with us since their economy is hurting as well. Y'all just don't want to admit that this was a master chess move by Trump: he head faked to the Iranians that he was going to have the Marines take Kharg, Hormuz and other Iranian islands, when he pivoted and imposed the blockage of Iranian oil shipments. Checkmate!

Iran is no longer a gatekeeper of anything. USA now controls the Strait and we're in the process of clearing the waters of mines.

OK, so Iran's economy crumbles. Then what? So Iran settles (hilarious terminology there chief). Then what? How does the US enforce any of it? That's the problem with gunboat diplomacy; it don't work so well when the gunboats go home.

Master chess move by Trump? LOL. Let's revisit this prediction after more than, you know, a day and a half.
