I knew the odds always favored a shitshow, but my small hope this could turn out well has been extinguished. I assumed we had a plan, at least for the short term, as we did with the action in Venezuela. It’s now clear we did not. The only explanation I can come up with is that Venezuela went about as well as it possibly could have. That caused Trump to think he could decree success with military operations, regardless of the differences in complexity and scope. We’re now seeing what happens when an idiot megalomaniac takes action that smart people have been avoiding, for good reason, for decades. God help us all.

Surely you don’t think that our government led by an NBC game show host, a bunch of podcasters, and an alcoholic doesn’t have a plan?

They probably moved all of the U.S. personnel out of the military bases and replaced them with the immigrants that ICE seized in U.S. cities.

TBH, I'll believe that "Trump is cooked" when it actually happens. That man has more political lives than a cat, and in the end I think his base will rally to him nearly every time, because as has been frequently mentioned it's a cult of personality, not a political party. It shouldn't be at all surprising, however, that Trump and his minions did this without thinking of any of the consequences of what they were doing or the long-term implications. They're incapable of that kind of planning, imo.
