I’m not at all sure we’re succeeding tactically. Iran is a big fucking country. While we are undoubtedly succeeding tactically in this conflict, I think it's becoming more and more obvious with each passing day that we are failing strategically. Iran is successfully exploiting the fact that while the U.S. is now facing intense pressure from our allies in the Middle East and beginning to send shockwaves through the global economy, Iran still holds the Straight of Hormuz firmly in its control and holding a massive percentage the global energy market at its mercy. They also know that the longer amount of time this conflict goes on without an end in sight, it will politically and economically erode the Trump administration, so they have no reason to, nor intention of, coming back to the negotiating table. There is no longer any reason for Iran to stop its nuclear program, and in fact there is more incentive than ever before to develop it. There was a nearly finalized agreement on the table that could have resolved most of the issues but that still got the Supreme Leader blown up. The U.S. and Israel have truly stepped in it now.
Trump is now demanding unconditional surrender in this not a war.lol at bombing Iran for a few weeks is now a war? Wars are fought with boots on the ground. How long does it take to go from 60% enrichment to weapons grade?
Is the American Conservative being "too emotional"?
When did Congress declare war on Iran?I'm also one of the people that think if we're in a war, we shouldn't be holding back attacking military targets.
It's a "war" when it is convenient for the Trump apologists in order to justify his actions. It's not a war when it is not convenient for the Trump apologists. Try to keep up.When did Congress declare war on Iran?
Precisely this. It's a "war" when it is convenient for the Trump apologists in order to justify his actions. It's not a war when it is not convenient for the Trump apologists. Try to keep up.
He won’t say a thing because he is Putin bitch.Seeing on the tele that Russia is giving Iran intelligence on US forces targets
Wonder what peetape boy thinks about that development?
Trump also called it a war.Trump is now demanding unconditional surrender in this not a war.
I think this is far too nuanced and complicated to be a political issue. But I think Americans who are engaged should be aware of the details, debate the legality and ethics of it and assess the damage it may do to our international standing and to future combat decisions.I don't know. I'm pretty liberal and a pacifist for the most part but I'm also one of the people that think if we're in a war, we shouldn't be holding back attacking military targets.
That's how wars go on forever. Better for both sides to go hard and make it short.
I get the counter argument that this is basically a mini Pearl harbor sneak attack and we would be incensed if this happened to us but I suspect most voters aren't going to be quite that empathetic.
The Rapture. What is Trump’s end game here?
It's almost like there weren't any easy answers just laying around untried because the dedicated non-partisan experts who have been on the front lines of protecting America's interests in the world for the last 50 years were just to soft/lazy/stupid to to implement those easy answers that were obvious to all us uneducated masses sitting in our Archie Bunker Barcaloungers at home. While we are undoubtedly succeeding tactically in this conflict, I think it's becoming more and more obvious with each passing day that we are failing strategically.
