At that point, Iran is inviting a ground war, which may be what the regime wants. The US could occupy the highlands around the Strait of Hormuz and create a 100 mile buffer on the interior to limit the effectiveness of drone attacks. It could also engage in a naval blockade and strangle the Iranian economy. The Strait of Hormuz is essentially MAD. The irony is that the US doesn’t need the oil. It is China and especially Japan and South Korea that is so dependent on that energy. But I also don’t see how Trump can survive $10 a gallon gas here.

Doubling the price per barrel shouldn’t be ruled out but still seems highly unlikely. And we don’t need nearly that kind of increase to put western economies in real danger of serious long-term impacts. Europe has already been taking it on the chin on energy prices due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and attempts to limit their consumption of Russian oil and gas. As a result of higher energy costs and pressure to spend considerably more on defense, the debt burden of many European countries has spiked.
I don't automatically believe propaganda, and the statement from Iran was propaganda or just a threat. I'm not an expert in this area, but if an expert in this area says the regional prices have already hit a $150 a barrel, we probably shouldn't expect prices at the pump in the US to go down anytime soon.

Trump flanked by Susie Wiles and Speaker of the House as he reads off description of military success in Iran.

[destruction of naval vessels and Air Force, etc. — says we destroyed everything but the oil “I call it the pipes, we left the pipes … just one simple word and the pipes will be gone too]

“Hammering their capacity” to mine Hormuz … says we don’t know that they’ve dropped any mines in and it would be shocked if they did that but they could be dropping them from fishing boats or something.

Focuses on how much oil other countries get from the Strait, says we have it fairly under control but small terrorists can shoot small missiles.

Numerous countries have told me they are on the way, some are enthusiastic others are not but basically says they owe us since

“You have any mine sweepers? ‘Well we’d rather not get involved sir’ … I’ve been a big critic of protecting countries because I knew that we protect them but they wouldbe there for us.

One year before I predicted Osama bin Laden would take down the World Center but I predicted that I’ve predicted a lot of things.

Complains other countries should be in there helping us and says we don’t need the oil we have all ours and now the oil from Venezuela b it we’ve taken out millions of barrels of oil to Houston and it’s been a great relationship …

We strongly encourage other nations to get involved and get involved very quickly and enthusiastically… says a lot of countries said yes but he doesn’t want to release their names because they fear reprisal attacks but shouldn’t fear attacks because Iran is a paper tiger

And then he turns to Kennedy Center claims (it’s been let go to hell … that’s what they’ve done … money was spent incorrectly long … complains about little theaters people only want big halls)

More GOP Projection. He'd leap at the chance to negotiate a way out of this if Iran was interested. They're not, at least not yet, because they know how much they're hurting him (and us) economically and in terms of our international standing, so he's left looking like a clown on the world stage. The Emperor has no clothes, unless you're a member of the cult. And they insist that he's wearing a US flag toga and a red MAGA cap at all times.

“I’ve always said this was a weakness of NATO, we protect them but when in need they don’t protect us “ then rushes to say we aren’t actually in need but they should jump to protect us anyway.

“My attitude is we don’t need anybody we are the strongest nation in the world …” says we don’t need them but he wanted to see how they would react because he has always suspected people we protect won’t help us.

Goes off about Starmer offering aircraft carriers after the war with Iran

“NATO is us … Putin doesn’t fear NATO, he fears us and the military I built”

“It always bothered me that we protected them” and we didn’t need to. “Dig we must is the Trump policy on oil” “you could say we did it out of habit … so we didn’t for a lot of reasons … we did it and we never asked for reimbursement…”

Gets distracted like a cat by a dangling string chats with someone he calls the Sugar King (Pepe?)

Back to questions

Iran is a country based on disinformation plus A.I.

Claims Iran war is his “first glimpse of A.I. … I think it’s the only thing they do well…”

“I don’t know if they’re ready yet … all their leaders are dead as far as we know “… goes through a list of groups that are “all dead”

Q: why can’t the U.S. just open the Strait?

Trump: well we could but it takes two to tango … you know these ships are very expensive but they don’t want to take a chance … we don’t know if there are any mines but they may have … we’re pounding that coast … again they may have no mines set and we have destroyed their mine ships we have other nations coming in

That must offer tanker captains much solace.

Trump says why aren’t we being reimbursed for protecting the “hormones” strait … I think we’re gonna have some good help and some disappointment too

- Says Israel would go for declaring victory and leaving for 47 years no president would do what I’m doing but they didn’t do it claims a former POtUS told Trump that he (former POTUS) wishes he had done this himself, but won’t say who said that to him

- jokes about how Iran is a little tougher on protesters than the American way, they shot women right through the middle of the forehead about 10 went down bleeding profusely and thousands of women went running in the other direction because they can be brave but they are not stupid the crowd “dispenses”
