I just got a text from a friend saying that his 9 month old cousin, the baby's mom, uncles and their kids were all killed in the latest bombings.
How messed up is it to bomb starving people during their holiest month of the year. Imagine the outrage if this happened to people during Christmas or Hanukkah.

I’m afraid it is the beginning of things getting much worse in Gaza. Ben Gvir rejoining the government is a terrible sign of things to come.

I think I gave you a little ribbing on the old board once for some inartful highlighting, but that was just a joke. We appreciate the highlighting, even if it isn't perfectly square or straight. And if you're on a flight, that's pretty good, turbulence or no.

In many ways, 2024 was the worst year of my lifetime. Not necessarily the worst for me, but overall it was a horrible year and I can't remember any as bad. Maybe '08.

And 2025 is shaping up to be worse.

I know you know this, but reading shit like this makes my blood boil. And a lot of us feel the same way. The truce had been the one mildly bright spot of Trump's reign, so of course they had to destroy it like everything else. As angry as I am at the "uncommitted" people, it doesn't change the fact (obviously) that this ongoing atrocity is just that -- an atrocity that should be punished.

At least October 7th wasn't a Jewish holiday, right?
 
Release the Hostages and the bombings will stop. Doesn't mean I don't have sympathy for all the innocent victims.

They were releasing the hostages at part of the ceasefire agreement, but Israel has already violated it over 1500 times. Plus, Israel has taken hundred more hostages and has stopped all food aid into Gaza.

Because you continue to seem wholly unconcerned about the reason for this war. The reason being that, like your friends, many Israelis lost their friends and family members on October 7th but, hey, it wasn't a Jewish holiday so apparently the fighting wasn't in bad taste.

The irony - it is the religion, on which the holidays are based, that are the reason Palestinians are in this situation.

Here's hoping the parties can at least resolve quickly the issues which caused the end of the cease fire.

I appreciate RaiGuy's first(?) or second hand perspective on this dispute even though I may not agree with it 100%.
