1. Requires a showing that: "in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States" Nobody prosecuted for J6 was enjoying any right or privilege secured by the constitution. None of them had permission to be on the Capitol grounds.

By your logic, anyone convicted of trespassing could ask for an investigation of the prosecutor under 18 USC 241. This is a perfect example of why everyone laughs at you so hard.

2. Are you aware of prosecutorial immunity?
I have never claimed to be an expert authority on Constitutional Law, much less, federal criminal law. The poster asked me to identify authority in which the DOJ attorneys could be prosecuted. I rely on my legal sources (J. Turley, Mike Davis, Andrew McCarthy) who have identified that statute as a possible crime. I assume prosecutors are not given immunity if they act outside the scope of their authority or commit intentional torts. It's being reported that Smith and his associates are "lawyering up" in DC so they must be worried about something.

You need better legal sources. All three of those guys are confirmed assclowns who have no respect in the legal profession to my knowledge. Turley is a running joke among law professors. I'm not sure he even teaches any more. He's a Fox News professional. Needless to say, section 241 is not remotely applicable, as a mere glance at the statute would reveal. Here's an idea: read the statute before trusting professional lawyers and professional fascists.

Anyway, you should read more about prosecutorial immunity. It's another concept you've butchered. First, the whole point of prosecutorial immunity -- like all immunities -- is to protect (right or wrong) people who act outside the scope of their authority. If they were acting within that scope, they wouldn't need immunity! This is a basic point, but anyway. Since most prosecutorial acts are intentional, intentionality doesn't carve out an exception either.

And this isn't a question of federal criminal law or constitutional law. This is a basic fact that might appear on a bar exam.

It's a loss, either way. Keep in mind I used "a" not "the." Wikler is a frontrunner with Martin and an insider. Supported by Milquetoast Leader Schumer.

Times reporter Reid J. Epstein writes that both are “middle-aged white men from the upper Midwest and chair of their state parties whose politics are well within the Democratic mainstream.

only Wikler has attracted the endorsement of a leading Democrat. Chuck Schumer, the Democratic minority leader in the Senate, has thrown his support behind Wikler.

Wikler has worked for Brown, Warren, Franken. He's a longtime Dem activist and company man. He'll continue the McGovern - Schumer milquetoast activism that no longer resonates with the working class and middle class. Wikler wants to fight, but he lost WI to Trump. Yeah, they turned over the Governorship and a few seats, but Ron Johnson is still Senator. Wisconsin is purple and they voted more blue in 2020 and 2024.

Color me skeptical that Wikler has the fire of a Josh Lyman and the strategic wisdom of a Leo McGarry (of West Wing of course).
Wikler is also a “new media” guy who understands the current landscape better than a lot of other Democrats. He completely overhauled the Wisconsin Democratic Party in the wake of Walker’s governorship. Yes, Harris lost Wisconsin in 2024, but it was the closest swing state. Think Wikler is the clear choice here.

Keep in mind Schumer also endorsed Ellison for chair over Perez.

Some of these arguments from the Right on this forum are so fucking ridiculous - it's just hard to get engaged. The only real outrage here is that we - as a country - seemed to have condoned an attempted coup. Allowing MAGA to conflate the coup and the January 6th riot is to MAGA's benefit because as Ramrouser has noted - "only" one person died during the riot and it's easy to argue the Left has blown the riot out of "proportion."

The real crime was in the lead up to January 6th and the conspiracy that involved not only President Trump and his team, but various members of both chambers of Congress and other elected officials through key states. It's almost unfathomable to believe the entire fate of our democracy in 2021 rested on the actions of Mike Pence. But again - here we are and our nation part out of ambivalence and part out of ignorance has condoned the actions of Trump and his conspirators. That is the real outrage. And unfortunately, I think that will be the legacy and the real damage going forward.

I would like to see Stacey Abrams be the chair of the DNC...

Not to mention, the point of her comment was not to equivalate (you're welcome, super) January 6 with those other events. It was to illustrate the importance of not forgetting painful events and the lessons we should learn from them. By attempting to minimize the significance of January 6, MAGAs like Ramrouser are in the same category as Holocaust deniers and Lost Causers. Maybe not equivalent, but categorically comparable.
EXTREMELY charitable interpretation of Hostin’s comments. I bet she’ll be reading one of the hostage legal notes on tomorrow’s show. This would be like her 6th legal note over the past month or so.

Who gives a shit what Sonny Hostin (who?) has to say. She's a talking head on 'The View', apparently. I don't watch 'The View.' Do you?

She’s a liberal media figure who speaks to a daytime audience. Why do you guys care what Sean, Laura or, in the past, Rush say? They are “talking heads.”
Of course I don’t watch the view but YouTube and X exist to play her stupid opinions.
