I was thinking about his campaign ad and the gist of it was I'm running for AG as a normal person and I wonder if in 4 years that would really resonate with the whole country - also he really gets social media - are there some negatives I don't know about?

I’d say he and Pete Buttigeig. They are incredible in their ability to talk to the common man in a way that is easily digestible and doesn’t feel condescending.
Pete is my favorite politician. Unfortunately, this is a deeply bigoted country, and if we are fortunate enough to actually have free and fair elections again, we need to play by the demands of the market. Run a charismatic, quippy, no shits to give populist with white skin, testicles, and under 65 (preferably under 55, but I made this concession because I think the Dems need John Stewart or his near direct analog).

Are you a common man? I'm not sure anyone on this board is a great judge of what the common man wants to hear. I'm sure as hell not.

I don't know much about Jeff Jackson. I'm skeptical that Buttigieg is a future standard-bearer. I have a feeling he's the guy that educated centrists like but who has little appeal, for various reasons, outside of that constituency. Would love to be proven wrong, but I don't see it at the moment.

Jeff ran great ads-yes common man etc But running for AG is very "easy" to message
I am going to put away bad guys

Roy was AG, then Guv for two terms.
Josh was AG, now Guv for at least one term, maybe two.
I can see JJ following that same path into Raleigh and perhaps the WhiteHouse in due time.

I’d like to think I am, but perhaps I’m not. I reckon most people like to think of themselves as a “common man.” I do know that I come from a pretty poor, rural background and exactly 100% of my extended family still live as such. I’d say the only difference between them and me now is that I got out of there and got an education, which then opened the door for me to build a phenomenal life and career. But I still think that I understand and care deeply about the things that plague my family and so many others like them- lack of access to education, lack of access to opportunity, lack of access to quality nutrition, lack of upward mobility, etc.

Jeff Jackson is the best Democratic politician I’ve personally seen in NC during the time I’ve been following politics.
Jeff Jackson is the best politician in politics today, regardless of party. I would vote for him for potus today. He is one who potentially has the ability to help reunite the country. He has the "IT" that this country sorely needs.

The "IT" is underrated Its what turns voters heads He is a good one

How would you define "common man"?

How soon we talking here?I guess he’d be a governor candidate after Stein or maybe vie for Tillis’ Senate seat if Cooper doesn’t want it, though I wonder if he’d be seen as over-ambitious if he tried that.

Who gives a shit? They said the same thing about Obama. When you have it you have it.

Jackson should absolutely run for Tillis’s Senate seat in 2026, no matter what Chuck Schumer thinks. Schumer has repeatedly shown he cannot be trusted to make decisions on NC Senate candidates. He might still be majority leader if he didn’t push Jackson aside for Cheri Beasley.

I'll never get over what Schumer supposedly told Jackson when he said wanted to run in 2020 - that he didn't want Jackson out on the campaign trail, but instead he wanted Jackson down in an office in Raleigh somewhere working the phones to raise boatloads of cash for his campaign. And so Jackson decided not to run and we got Cal Cunningham instead. And then in 2022 Schumer apparently supported Beasley over Jackson because he thought that NC's black voters would prefer a dull as dishwater black candidate over a more dynamic white male candidate. I do think that Cooper will likely run for the Senate in 2026, and Jackson will bide his time and either run for the Senate in 2028 or the governor's mansion in 2032, assuming that Stein gets reelected in 2028.

No, Jackson needs to get elected to a position that will bring him national attention sooner rather than later. If he has to step on Cooper’s toes to do it so be it. He has a far higher ceiling than Roy Cooper and he’s waited long enough. Roy needs to get out of the way of the young guy.

Maybe, but I think a lot of it depends on the political climate in a couple of years. And if Cooper runs Jackson won't beat him in the primary. I still think that 2028 is likely his best shot at the Senate if that's what he wants.

I won't argue with you. But I assume Schumer has the purse strings. The Huge $ not from NC

Yeah, I’m on board with that. The party brass hasn’t exactly been killing it lately…
