June 14 Military Parade — DC

And that doesn't detract from a single thing I posted - the money that was wasted (what about DOGE and saving money?), that Trump is a draft dodger who has publicly and privately disparaged veterans (especially wounded ones) on numerous occasions, and that Trumpers loved the parade in large part because it pissed off liberals. And don't fool yourself - it wasn't done to celebrate "250 years of sacrifice, determination, and service" by our military - it was done to celebrate Dear Leader on his birthday. Strange how Trump chose to celebrate all this on his birthday, no? Why not Veterans Day or Memorial Day or the 4th of July?

LOL. You still haven't rebutted anything I wrote - the money wasted, the parade being held on his birthday instead of a more appropriate holiday, his attitude towards veterans - nothing. You can yell "TDS" all you want, but in doing so you're just proving my point - a good deal of conservative celebration and support of this parade is nothing more than OTL - Owning the Libs. "Patriotism" has little do with it, unless patriotism means supporting whatever Dear Leader does and wants.

We have a major war breaking out in the Middle East, Democratic politicians have been deliberately targeted, shot, and killed by right-wing assassins, the US Marines, National Guard, and federal agents have been deployed to a major US city against the will of state and local leaders and have attacked unarmed protestors and detained US citizens, with threats from Trump 2.0 to deploy more soldiers to occupy blue-controlled cities that dare to disagree with their policies, our nation's major universities are under direct attack from a presidential administration that is literally trying to take control of them and dictate what they can and cannot teach, numerous government agencies have been thrown into chaos because of willy-nilly budget cuts that have left them severely understaffed and underfunded, and on and on.

And what is our glorious president doing about all of this? Spending well over $50 million of taxpayer money to throw a military parade for himself on his birthday. I'm beginning to understand how Roman citizens must have felt when Nero played around while Rome burned. I know that's probably a historical myth, but the symbolism certainly fits this administration perfectly.

Swear I heard a few strains of “Fortunate Son.”

Is the band trolling?

They WERE!!

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Hoo, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no furtunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, Lord?
But when the taxman come to the door
Lord, the house lookin' like a rummage sale, yeah
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Hoo, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me...

What an embarrassing humiliation that parade turned out to be for Trump and his bootlicking supporters! Big yikes! Tiny crowd where a pin dropping would have been deafening, soldiers halfheartedly and sloppily marching out of step, elderly tanks squeak squeak squeaking down the road drowning out the silence from said tiny crowd, not a single mention or acknowledgement of Trump. You can tell all of the military personnel involved thought it was the stupidest thing imaginable and that they’d have rather been anywhere else.

Gotta give the Army huge props: they’ve had 250 years to perfect the art of showing a commanding officer their displeasure without making themselves open to charges of insubordination. Maybe the Army has….wait for it…no, that couldn’t be!….what if the Army has….TDS!?!?!?

So much winning!

Its all a bit of a myth. Most Romans loved Nero. It was mostly the rich guys in the Senate that hated him. And they were the ones writing the histories.

Fetterman: Military parade comprised of ‘the very best of us’

"
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) said that President Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, is comprised of the “best of us” and that it should be celebrated regardless of where one might stand on the political spectrum.

“This parade is comprised of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers—the very best of us,” Fetterman wrote in a Saturday post on social media platform X. “Regardless of your politics, it’s appropriate to celebrate the 250 years of sacrifice, dedication and service.”

Fetterman demonstrated rare Democratic support for the parade that is taking place on Trump’s 79th birthday."
Fetterman is the unicorn democrat w/out Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Fetterman is objectively brain damaged. His personality has concretely changed since his stroke, per multiple people in his inner circle. Research has shown that damage to the executive function (eg reasoning, self monitoring, acting fluidly with changing information, etc.) centers of the brain are correlated conservative beliefs.
