Kanye's girlfriend is naked at the Grammys

I'm not a KL stan, but he had 4 platinum albums and won a Pulitzer before any beef with Drake. You may not like him but he has plenty claims to fame outside of GNX.
the dude is easily on the modern rap mount rushmore and making a case for the all time.

he's got multiple classic rap albums including one that has the 5th highest metacritic rating of all time in any genre.

drake has a lot of catchy hits but isn't in kendrick's stratosphere as far as quality of music.

One of the major critiques of Kendrick Lamar (valid or not) is that he tends to be - along with folks like KRS-One, The Roots, and Childish Gambino - a conscious rapper who has been embraced as much, or more, by white audiences than by black ones.

Like this guy a lot. He's done a tremendous amount of stuff, it's all over the place as far as inspiration and style and he's pretty creative.

Thanks. I'll check him out. Let me know if you have some other recommendations.

Tape Five
Swing Republic
Swingrowers
Riff Kitten
Caravan Palace
Elle and the Pocket Belles
Deladap
Caro Emerald
are some of the ones that immediately come to mind.

zzlp's interpretation of the situation reads like a bot impersonating a moronic teenager.

the "beef" was won emphatically by kendrick. drake is basically a punchline in many hip hop circles now.
Drake is the most streamed male artist of all time on Spotify, has 78 top-10 singles, 5 grammys, and is tied with Michael Jackson for most number one singles of all time by a male artist. He also has a net worth of over $100 million more than Lamar. Kendrick Lamar will never have the success that Drake has.

All of Lamar's raps sound the same to me. Similar beats with the same cadence in his rap.

ehhh, it depends on how you define success.

drake has been a massive success commercially but he has experienced next to no critical acclaim in his career. he's got a LOT of fun songs - i've been listening to his music for almost 20 years, but the vast majority of the hits are trendy bops that are more pop than rap and do not stand the test of time.

kendrick will always, always be significantly more critically acclaimed than drake.

and all of this is without even going into the culture vulture stuff and various unsavory situations and rumors that have swirled around drake and his camp/entourage for years.

as someone who is very tuned in to the rap scene, i disagree with this and furthermore it really doesn't hit in the context of kendrick vs. drake because drake is just as much if not even more embraced by white audiences. his mother is white, he grew up solidly middle class and a lot of his music is pop. he was on a teen drama TV show.

kendrick grew up poor in compton surrounded by genuine gang bangers. he's definitely much more perceived as being for/by/with black folks even if some white people also like his music.

Drake is corny as fuck and I find that his followers are equally corny as fuck.

Odd that anyone over 20-25 years old would take him seriously anymore, if ever. Comparing him to Kendrick is like comparing Britney Spears to Amy Winehouse — one was a product, the other an artist.

One I definitely shouldn't have left out. Little Violet is the group name. I don't remember her name but she's also the songwriter and piano player.

Funny. I was thinking the other day about Public Enemy and how— despite the subject matter of their songs— had a much bigger white audience than black audience.

Trump bringing titties and desert animals to America. No titties under Brandon’s term. Winning.

At some level isn't any super famous rapper (at least in the US) probably going to have a bigger white audience than black audience? White people in the US outnumber black people more than 4 to 1.

Sure, but Public Enemy was an interesting case considering the content of their songs. I’m sure Chuck D. didn’t envision that when he wrote lyrics like:
“Farrakhan's a prophet and I think you ought to listen to
What he can say to you, what you wanna do is follow for now”
