Hell, I was wondering why Kash Patel’s appointment would thrill anyone?Genuine curiosity as to why post some random person’s opinion on Kash Patel?
i guess as evidence that some on the right are starting to open their eyes a bit?Genuine curiosity as to why post some random person’s opinion on Kash Patel?
I suppose but they are not thought leaders and something we know about maga is they follow the leaders.i guess as evidence that some on the right are starting to open their eyes a bit?
Because it was a good example of a sentiment that is being expressed by a lot of random 2A first posters ….Genuine curiosity as to why post some random person’s opinion on Kash Patel?
Is it? My experience has been that they keep in line until told otherwise. A little opposing comment here and there is almost always walked back or some tortuous rationalization is applied to the Dear Leaders.Because it was a good example of a sentiment that is being expressed by a lot of random 2A first posters ….
In part that's because you bought them before you realized you were going to be a liberalGuns to liberals are like abortions to conservatives. We have 'em, we just don't talk about 'em.
How does it count if you bought most of your guns after you thought you were a liberal but not old enough to register to vote? Despite current politics, perception is not reality. In part that's because you bought them before you realized you were going to be a liberal
Partially. I own two, but one I inherited when my dad died when I was 19 (so still very much Republican). The other, though, I bought in fall 2020, but primarily because I enjoy going to the range with my FIL and BIL's. I've got concealed carry certification but have never once carried concealed, and in fact have never once had it out in public at all except for locked in my trunk to go to and from the range. I've alway enjoyed shooting- I was an Eagle Scout and took the NRA's Rifle and Shotgun Instructor training courses through BSA, but even more so I've always enjoyed being knowledgeable and able to teach proper safety. In part that's because you bought them before you realized you were going to be a liberal
I was mostly kidding. I don't know the history of your gun purchases. It's also true, though, that you didn't think of yourself as a liberal in 2020, isn't it? I mean, it was a long time ago and my memories of myself are foggy let alone people I don't actually know -- but from those memories I've the impression that you were in the stage of "I'm still a conservative; just not a Republican any more."Partially. That all sounds right to me! Very well-said.I was mostly kidding. I don't know the history of your gun purchases. You might still think of yourself that way, but I've observed you recently accepting that you're just not a conservative any more. All terms like conservative and liberal are relative, and compared to where we are in the country, you're a liberal now. Not sure when that flipped for you, or if it has just been a gradual turn.
I think in a political environment that was fascist-free, where our parties were sorted by ordinary policy differences and not authoritarian personality traits, you and I would disagree about many things, though probably not nearly as many as a decade ago. In that environment you may well be conservative.
Well, I'm pretty much a whiz at anything dealing with abstract reasoning. Probably 99.99th percentile on that skill in general (i.e. all different types of abstract reasoning included), perhaps higher.I will say, and you're someone who is especially perceptive about this kind of stuff IMO,
I do understand that. I assimilate information pretty well but do it in such a fashion that I pretty much have to teach myself. It's extremely difficult for me to learn from anyone else . I also get the hint that I come to quite a few things from ,shall we say, less traveled angles.Well, I'm pretty much a whiz at anything dealing with abstract reasoning. Probably 99.99th percentile on that skill in general (i.e. all different types of abstract reasoning included), perhaps higher.
And yet I can't grasp emojis or memes. In that sort of task, I'm average at the very best, probably worse, and downright poor compared to my professional/educational cohort. In the latter, probably 20th percentile, maybe worse.
Don't let anyone tell you that there's just one kind of intelligence. I'm living proof that there are multiple types, just like multiple types of basketball players. I'm like Shaq-near-the-basket on abstract reasoning. Also like Shaq-at-the-FT-line (or 3 point range) on more concrete reasoning tasks.
