March Madness - Wolverines new champs

Cadeau as Final Four MOP for Michigan is exactly why Hubert had to go.

This has been kind of a rough year to watch the ones who got away:

Elliot Cadeau - 10.3 ppg, 5.9 apg, .379 3pt%, FF MOP

Tyler Nickel - 13.5 ppg, .400 3pt%, .847 FT%

Cade Tyson - 19.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg, .413 3pt%, .822 FT%

Jalen Washington - 8.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.3 bpg

Ven-Allen Lubin - 13.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, .668 FG%

Ian Jackson - 9.4 ppg, .900 FT%

Those guys with Wilson, Veesaar, and Trimble would make a pretty good team.

All the takes surrounding Cadeau from this season were shit. It’s not surprising he played well. Was always clearly very talented

At the same time it’s not like it was some total resurgence. It’s called playing with NBA talent. And maturing a year

Have to say Dusty is a genius for the Yaxel/Cadeau pairing. Hard to think of a better fit personality or skill wise

Cadeau is a great player, but he really needs the right supporting cast around him or his weaknesses get exposed. He’s not the type of player that makes lemons out of lemonade so to speak.

I don’t mean that as a critique or backhanded compliment. If anything his season at Michigan is an indictment of our roster construction the last few years and a testament to how well Dusty May put together that team.

I don't agree with this. Guys are moving around these days looking for a bigger payday. This type of thing is going to happen a lot.

Hubert simply didn't win enough.
Hubert didn’t get enough out of Cadeau for his talent level (and similarly failed many players) and also tended to choose poorly which players should be kept and which we should let go in the portal (via $$$ priority).

Impossible to make that roster happen in this era.
