Mark Robinson thread | Sues CNN for Naked Africa reporting

I dunno. Maybe the NC Supreme Court will decide that the legislature intended an implied exception when the candidate has a Nazi problem. Or some similarly plausible theory. When the final court is nakedly partisan, it is probably a mistake to put to much reliance on the actual wording of the statutes.
Fair enough, I suppose. This gets to the question we've debated so many times before: in MAGA world, do courts have any limits as to how far they will stoop, and if so, what are they (it might very well vary by court)?

I don't think we're going to get a test of this, though. What GOPer in their right mind would step into MRob's shoes here? He'd have to run with Robinson's name on the ballot. He'd be taking over a race where Stein is leading by 15-20 points. Stein doesn't have any obvious flaws as a candidate that would make a purely negative campaign viable (except in the sense that the DOP is always negative). He'd have no money and no campaign infrastructure. And how would they decide who to run?

I'd think the logic wouldn't be to win, but to avoid being a down-ticket and up-ticket drag. You could take any generic white Republican and put him in that slot.

Right. But what generic white Republican wants to eat such a shit sandwich taking it for the team?

And I'm just not sure it would matter, would it? Mark Robinson has name recognition. Voters know who he is, and will continue to be reminded of that fact over the next weeks. It will be his name on the ballot. The GOP candidate won't have enough money to get out the message that they have dumped Robinson.

I could investigate this in less than 6 hours (although its a little harder now that the website took down the posts)

Me neither. I doubt the law firm has any genuine intent to investigate anything or really do anything. Likely, the only service provided was to issue the press release saying fake news and they'll get to the bottom of it, just you wait.
Yep. If he really wanted an investigation he would have accepted the offer of IT specialists to investigate and find out what "really" happened. That he declined is clear evidence that he has no intention of getting to the truth, because the truth is that he did exactly what CNN is claiming he did. Hiring this law firm is just a cover to claim that CNN lied about him so his gullible followers can convince themselves that the accusations are fake news. My guess is they will end up collecting some legal fees for doing essentially nothing.

Stuff like what is happening to Robinson makes me wish the Internet was around back when St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago was wrestling with his own personal Vietnam in the nightclubs of NYC.

Agree with this except “collecting some fees …”
Wanna bet Robinson learned his lessons well from Herr Magaturd- and plans on stiffing the law firm after all is said and done?
