Mark Robinson thread | Sues CNN for Naked Africa reporting

So the question now presents itself: who has been the worst major party nominee this century. Feel free to nominate additional candidates, but I offer you:

1. Todd Akin (women can't get pregnant if it's a "legitimate rape")
2. Christine McDonnell (the witch)
3. Herschel Walker
4. Mark Robinson
5. Doug Mastriano.

While I'm open to suggestion, I have to think this is really a slugfest between 1 and 4. Herschel was incredibly bad, but I think Robinson has him beat in just about every category.
Donald Trump?

Maybe today. But 2012 Missouri was much more democratic than 2018 Alabama. Missouri still had some residual Yellow Dog Democrats in 2012 (having almost voted for Obama in 2008). To lose Bama as a Republican in 2018 requires a special kind of terrible.
Obama got 44% of the vote in MO in 2012; he got 39% in Alabama of that same year. So I'm not sure that was "much more democratic." To put it differently, Akin ran 16 points behind Romney. By contrast, Moore in 17 ran about 13 points behind Trump in 16, and also Moore was a special election.

Roy Moore?
I think I might be inclined to agree if he had a social media history that revealed exactly what we all know it would have revealed - I.e. he liked ‘em a little underripe.
Robinson has the burden of an electronic paper trail that’s really hard to shake. And as loathsome as Moore is, in the context of geography and age, his attitudes weren’t so far outside the norm. Robinson OTOH. Holy hell. I cannot think of any private conduct more contrary to the public face of an individual in politics in my lifetime.

Well that is a 10% difference (you have to double the delta).

I'll settle this dispute by saying they were both terrible candidates.

All right. After further consideration I’ll also mention John Edwards. He’s not nearly as creepy as Robinson, but his public persona was far more likeable and polished.

Well, in that case I’ll counter with Bob Menendez.
No, no, no. Winning candidates don't count. By definition, it means they were not terrible candidates. That they were revealed to be crooked after they took office doesn't mean they were bad candidates. I suppose Santos could be an exception because his entire candidacy was a lie that could have been derailed and exposed by sufficient oppo research. But that's part of the point: it was a House race, and House races just don't have as much money to put into oppo.

6. donald trump
7. Laura Loomer

Did Loomer get to a general election? If so, she probably has to go on the list for sure. But we can't include only primary candidates, because surely there have been loads of horrible, terrible, ridiculous candidates that we don't know about. Like that Kandiss woman in Georgia who lost her primary by 60 points and claimed it was rigged.

Loomer was the Republican nominee and lost in the general election.

Wait are you saying I shouldn't have given you all the money to research whether or not you banned half the ZZL unjustly?

damn't! snoop got me again!
The results of that study were mixed. I think the data got corrupted or something.
