This is just such a perfect illustration of the dangers of "bothsidesism" and how it leads us to the exact point we're at in terms of people becoming apathetic and checking out from politics. I'm absolutely not holding myself up as somehow being part of the solution but the idea that people who don't vote somehow have "cleaner hands" and are less responsible for the mess is silly. You don't wash your hands of responsibility for our government by simply refusing to participate in choosing who runs it.
You think lobbyists and grift and political corruption are bad? So do I, and neither party is innocent. But I've voted for the party who has generally tried to enact campaign finance reform, ethics reform, etc, not the party opposing it and rolling it back. if you're not voting, what are you doing to solve the problem?
