The replies to that tweet are appalling, and a perfect example of how we got into this mess. Many posters are defending what Elon and Trump said by arguing that our news media lies all the time and has to be "fixed", that some journalists are guilty of treason and should therefore be in prison, that Democrats imprison people for posting memes on social media (what the hell?), and one Trumper even said that "The world needs to respect Trump’s historic mandate, and the media needs to start displaying the facts about how everyone loves him. The media engaged in election interference, by covering fake news, and they need to be held accountable, like ABC and CBS have been." These people are crazy and deluded, plain and simple.

Or not. But if you fact check him, MAGA digs in deeper.

I think he's actually right about that, or at least close to it, as his numbers have dipped a bit over the last couple of weeks.

The problem is, even though his polling numbers are higher FOR HIM, they still represent the worst polling numbers for any president after their first month in office. The only one lower than him is...checks...notes Trump 2016.

For the record: 10 of his first 31 days in office were spent at one of his golf courses. In addition to trips to the Superbowl and Daytona where he had the Beast drive around the race track.

As usual, it's all projection with these people, all the time. If Trump or any other Republican accuses the "liberal news media" or Democrats of being or doing something, you can be damned sure they're already doing it or really are what they claim the Democrats or news media are. In this case, it's Trump and his cronies who are the threat to democracy, not MSNBC.

MSNBC replacing Joy Reid and Alex Wagner

The show with Symone Sanders and Michael Steele has been one of my favorite political shows over the past year, though selfishly I like it on weekend mornings (they’ll be taking Reid’s 7 pm weekday slot.)

MSNBC replacing Joy Reid and Alex Wagner

MSNBC's new news chief said just a couple of weeks ago that in the "Trump Era" MSNBC would lean into its "progressive roots" and continue to hold Trump accountable. Firing two of the network's more liberal (and in Joy Reid's case, better-known) hosts and commentators doesn't exactly sound like that's what is happening.

Ayman Mohyeldin, Katie Phang, and Jonathan Capehart also now out at MSNBC.

Lester Holt "retiring to spend more time with his family" at NBC (j/k, he's going to Dateline I believe).

Interesting how most of the people they're firing are minorities. Again, the new news manager for MSNBC said that something like this wouldn't happen. After today it's very hard to see this as anything other than MSNBC caving to Trump, no matter what they say.
