I don't get that at all. The fired anchors had terrible ratings and MSNBC is trying to turn around the ship. Rachel acknowledged that, she just didn't like how it was done (especially for the producers).

Also, Rachel is effectively giving cover by getting out front of the minority-only terminations -- kinda like when you raise the bad stuff in direct examination so the cross doesn't seem so bad. The reality is that the replacements are almost all minorities and just as liberal as the prior hosts.

That doesn't make the point you think it makes.

I don't know why a news organization cares if it's in the white house press pool. Those are just wastes of time anyway, and prone to sanewashing.

If the NY Times isn't included, good. Don't report the Baghdad Bob bullshit. Report the facts.

While this is definitely a bad thing for the public overall the only silver lining here is that I think literally being in the room to ask the president questions is less important today than it ever has been, both because of how diffuse media has become and because of how the Trump team handles press conferences anyway.

But perhaps our resident free speech warriors can explain why the president picking favorites in who gets to ask him questions isn't a problem for them?
 
When I read the following article, a lot of what he said I agreed with about media and its relationship with politics, and I have similar beliefs of my own. But then, he said he voted for Trump in 2024, apparently mostly because of the issue of 'free speech', i.e., the First Amendment, and the fact that Democrats are curtailing it. Thoughts anyone? Help me understand this guy.

Guessing he so favors free speech that he thinks businesses such as social media sites shouldn’t restrict/delete/flag disinformation or misinformation on their sites. So, if a Christopher Rufo or James O’Keefe or Donald Trump wants to lie on a social media site, that site is supposed to let them do so.

The Kochs have helped fund the Mercatus Center since the ‘80’s.

More like GOP. Mercatus Center is basically a Koch enterprise. They are basically just GOP at this point. They like libertarian stuff over culture war stuff (because the former benefits them), but mostly they like the GOP over Dems.
