Starting it's own thread. A gunman attacked a Democratic State Senator and a Representative to tip the balance to the Republicans. The state Rep and her husband have died.

Melissa Hortman, a Democratic state representative, and her husband were fatally shot.

Here’s what to know about the shooting.

A person pretending to be a police officer assassinated a Democratic state legislator in Minnesota and killed the lawmaker’s husband in “an act of targeted political violence,” Gov. Tim Walz said Saturday. The assailant also shot and injured another Democratic lawmaker and his wife, officials said.

State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, died in the attack at their home in the Minneapolis suburbs. State Senator John A. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were shot multiple times at their house in a nearby suburb, but remained alive as of Saturday morning.

FYI, these are 2 Democrats who recently broke from their party by joining with Republicans in voting against free healthcare for illegals.

This might be personal not political.

Reports of police finding a list of targets in the assassins vehicle.

Going to really make people trust law enforcement more /s

No reason to ever comply with someone trying to enter your home, or detain you without IDing themselves, their face, and a supervisor. And even then it still it can be fake.

Police Chief Mark Bruley said the suspect fled out of the back of Hortman's house after an exchange of gunfire with police.

The suspect was dressed like a uniformed officer and operating a vehicle that “looked exactly like an SUV squad car. It was equipped with lights, emergency lights and looked exactly like a police vehicle,” Bruley said.

"Other senators from swing districts, like Judy Seeberger of Afton, John Hoffman of Champlin, and Aric Putnam of St. Cloud, voted against the repeal."

Hoffman didn't vote to repeal. You do some great investigative work!

Key!

No one ever wants to be patient and wait for the facts to come out. Waltz et al already labeling it political violence isn’t helpful

This guy went to a lot of trouble in planning this. Seems a lot for some random right winger to go after 2 Dems that I’ve never heard of. There’s more to this story.

Given that the guy had a manifesto in his car with a list of targets on it, I think it was probably fairly easy for officials to confirm that this was political based on the other names on the list.

Did the other guy? 50% is excellent for Ramrouser.
