NBA thread

People have been complaining about ESPN/ABC's presentation of the NBA Finals (or lack there of)

Who needs this when you can just show people 15 mins of commercials sandwiched in between SAS and Kendrick Perkins questioning players effort before tip off

Is tonight a must-win for OKC??

I still don’t think so, but obviously it’s a massive hole if they don’t.

OKC needs to quiet the Indiana bench and get back to being the defensive bullies. Last game Indiana were the bullies.

Tonight will show just how much OKC’s confidence has been rocked.

Only one team ever, the Cavaliers, have come back from a 3-1 hole so yeah, I would say tonight is a must win.

I’m stupid for saying this because of what Indiana has done but I think OKC might win handedly tonight.

I'll say as close to a must-win as it gets without actually being one. Still two home games left for OKC

Cleveland actually won 5 and 7 on the road in that series which makes it even more nuts

I'm imagining a free and loose Indy raining 3s early. They still need to defend though

Yeah historically it’s a must-win. But given the fact that the Thunder will be favored in every remaining game regardless, I don’t think it can be called a must-win.

But it’s semantics and whichever team loses tonight is in a very poor position to pull it off. Even the Pacers at 2-2 with two games left at OKC… that would be quite a hole too, and all of a sudden both teams’ psychology and pressure might change, and the media narrative would completely shift.

Huge game tonight.

What a strange game. Close all the way but it really felt like Indiana’s game. Thunder just snatched it late. Shai definitely didn’t fade tonight.

OKC firmly back in control of the series. That late fizzle by the Pacers might’ve just cost them the title.

But, Pacers.

the thunder were really tough last night, their 2 stars sga and williams and caruso in particular and haliburton was simply not good enough - way too many turnovers, 1-7 from deep. just not enough from him.

i also thought that the majority of the close calls and non-calls went the thunder's way which is big in a tight game.

Another very good game and kind of game Indy has been winning all playoffs

That stretch to end the 3rd and early 4th was brutal. Should've been up 15+ and instead it was 7

Definitely the game they'll look back on if they lose this series

I've felt this way in pretty much every OKC game I've watched this post-season

Chet gets an absolutely insane continuation call every game it seems

And an easy missed charge call on J-Dub late that ended up an AND-1. Can't believe Pacers didn't challenge that

Going to sound like a salty hater even though I have no dog in the fight but I can’t stand the way that SGA plays with the constant foul baiting. Harden 2.0.

Generally agree, with the caveat that Harden’s game at least involves elite passing. I appreciate how skilled SGA is in getting to his spots and his ability to slither through a defense, but it’s yuck to watch. The most enjoyable aspect of OKC, imo, is their army ant attack defense.

I can’t imagine what a slog this series would’ve been with SGA vs Brunson [dribble, dribble, head fling back and to the right, dribble, dribble, trip, dribble, dribble, grimace to the ref, dribble, dribble, arm flail, dribble, dribble, four pivots, thrust shoulder into defender, flailing fall away, free throws].

It's not a hater to dislike players whose style revolves around them shooting lots of free throws. Even if you don't have a problem with the slightly dishonorable strategy, it's boring as fuck.

Shai is so much more fun to watch than Harden. I feel like you guys must’ve forgotten how painful it is to watch Harden — nobody has ever pounded the ball or baited refs more than he has. Luka is a much better comparison to Harden.

Shai baits of course, and any baiting is annoying as hell and I’ve said for years it should be subject to a retroactive video review board along with fines and suspensions for repeat violators…
BUT he’s still silky smooth through the D and electric with the midrange pull-ups and fades. He’s plenty fun to watch.
