@Bigs23 yeah the end was gut wrenching but still a very enjoyable season until those last 30 seconds... Maybe 90. Still when we've only finished with a win 6 times in my life (2000 being the weird one) it's easy to forget how good the journey is just because of the way it ended

Most of the time yes, but that one was uniquely brutal, of course you had 2022 as well.

Final Four vs. double digit losses and a bitch-slapping in the R64? Sign me up for losing in the Final Four.

I still look back at ‘72, ‘75, ‘76, ‘77, ‘81, ‘84, ‘91, ‘95, ‘97, ‘98, ‘07, ‘08, ‘12, ‘16, ‘24, and other seasons and smile.

Even Jordan, Perkins, Daugherty, Smith, Doherty, Hale, and crew didn’t win it all in 1984. They didn’t make the Elite 8.

Great team and good memories.

2022 wasn't as bad as I feared. Honestly nothing will surpass 99 for me because we were the best team by far that season (I think we were the best this year, but it was always going to be tough in the final 4) AND as a student I knew many of those players.
04 was second because it felt stolen by awful refs.

As I've gotten older I still get nervous but it doesn't linger for more than a couple of days. I just would rather enjoy watching as long as a season can go. Of course with recent teams like 21 still in fresh memory,, it's easy to compare to REAL seasons to forget

You know what's funny about the hate thing - the student bodies get along pretty well. I remember going to parties at UNC (especially Halloween!) and UNC folks on campus for parties and stuff as well. It always felt like a fun hate. The nasty stuff was always more from folks far from the schools...
 
In other news - it will be nice for college sports to not have senior citizens all dominating teams in the 25-26 seasons.
 
I find it hard to hate Duke anymore. Scheyer is actually likeable (gross), the students are actually academically gifted and Duke and UNC collaborate on quite a few things. There is a mutual respect between both programs as the rivalry is better when we're both good.

I actually hate State much more than Duke. Massive athletic and academic inferiority complex, history of unhinged and racist behavior towards UNC, constantly screaming for attention when they do something interesting once every few decades....there's no respect there. They are just lunatics.

Now that we are playing them regularly in football again, I realized I had forgotten how absolutely awful their fanbase is. In 23 when we beat their ass at home, their fans were just nasty...soooo many drunk people.

By 2007, an ACL tear was NO LONGER a career-ending or career-worsening injury. With surgical advances and improvements in physical therapy, ACL tears were not what they used to be.

The Adam Morrison pick likely gets mocked and denigrated more than many crappy high picks because it’s one in a long list of shitty Michael Jordan picks.

If the Bobcats had passed on Morrison and taken another mediocre player at #3, Morrison would likely be forgotten.

Morrison really wasn’t a bad pick at the time. Obviously no one can predict the future. People were excited about the pick at the time and there really wasn’t another player who people really thought should have been picked over him at the time. He may have ended up ended up being a bust, but that didn’t make him a poor choice to draft at the time. I also do think his injury was a contributing factor to his career never taking off.

Rating were up 22% for the final and 3% overall.

The portal and NIL stuff hasn’t turned off viewers yet it seems.
