Let’s hope McConnell can give one last fuck you to Donald Trump and keep Rick Scott from assuming control of the party.

Scott is a scary guy . Fradulant Health Care gazillionaire . Mandatory drug testing for Welfare ....on and on

I disagree. I hope Scott gets it. Remember how fast the Pubs ran away from Scott's "12 Point Plan" because they knew how incredibly unpopular it would be with most Americans if it was actually implemented?

Do it, Rick. Push your vision of America through Congress and let's see how people respond. Hell, the majority may love it. But no more playing around. If America's going to vote for this, let's see what happens when you keep your promises.

I’m sure Senators are crushed to learn they can’t count on House votes for Senate leader.

You know, I might have chalked that up to a lame attempt to voice support for Scott, but there’s a very good chance he actually thinks he has a vote.

As far as the 12 point plan.

Do not like #1
Fine with #2 (as a multi racial [black and white] I think this is long overdue)
#3, how would this be any different, just enforce laws across the board consistently.
#4, Ok with the wall and being more strict on illegal immigration, but NOT naming the wall after Trump, that is stupid.
#5, how is it any different, Democrats was a more robust social safety net, but not socialism.
#6, unsure on 6 and what it would actually mean, could be ok with it
#7 I do not believe elections have been rigged, but I am good with tightening up on voter ID and election security.
#8 What will you do here? Sounds great, but what will you do? #8 could lead to some really extreme things I bet.
#9 Ok here, except I'd like to see more states with carve outs for legal abortions. It's not a state issue, let's hope more states put it on the ballot.
#10 ugh. I am a practicing Christian (very devout RC), never felt the least bit of actual persecution.
#11, Good here.
#12, Fine with tax cuts, but you better offset the spending, which won't be popular in many cases.

Meh, pretty broad overarching themes here without specifics, par for the course with Republicans, we want this, but no real details and feasibility in some places. Lets see what happens.

Trump and his sycophants better hope he can deliver.

I am "hopeful " that his selection was more about Turtle setting it up that way-and less about his allegiance to orangeturd

It will be interesting to see how the super-online wing of the MAGA coalition handles losing round 1 (of what will likely be an ongoing power struggle) to the establishment side. Elon, Vivek, and others like Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson had been pushing hard for Scott and saying anyone else would be a betrayal of MAGA. Their whole shtick relies on keeping the MAGA base riled up at all times, so will be interesting to see if they just never mention it again and pretend it didn't happen (likely) or continue to publicly disapprove.

It was a secret ballot so Trump could not punish the voters who did not go his way. That is why he stayed out of it. Thune will have a honeymoon with Trump….until Trump gets post nut clarity. Then it will get ugly.

Whether it is Thune or Scott or Cornyn, that doesn’t much matter.

If Trump wants recess appointments, the Trumplican Party will agree and support it.

In the Senate, it’s likely 53 GOP/47 Democrats. The GOP can let Collins and Murkowski vote as “moderate” as they want because they still have 51 Trump loyalists plus the VP vote if they need it.

It’s Trump’s party; we’re merely observers.
