Assuming we still have a presidential election in four years, I've got to make a mental note to do the following things in 2028:
1) Do not, under any circumstances, believe that Florida or Texas or North Carolina are "in play", no matter what the media or polls or talking head pundits say. They're not.
2) Social media and the internet are wonderful in some ways, but they've created a monster in other ways by giving idiots and con artists the ability to spread lies, conspiracy theories, and disinformation (like vaccines are bad) that have poisoned our political system. So expect the worst.
3) It doesn't matter how ridiculous Trump's campaign is, or how many straight up lies he tells or how many awful things he says, he's still going to get a record vote from his cult.
4) With every election cycle more and more of our news and social media is owned or being managed by right-wingers, so they now have a powerful media presence to promote their candidates 24/7.
5) In the Age of Trump, never get your hopes up if you're a Democrat. Expect the worst and if good things happen you can be pleasantly surprised, and if the worst happens at least you can say you saw it coming.
