I'm not going to try to tell you how to feel about it. I'm giving you my perspective. I'm 46 years old and there is ZERO chance that this nation reflects any of my values for the remainder of my lifetime because SCOTUS will be so baked-in. That tells me that I may as well check out. I don't have children. I don't have a vested interest in what happens after I'm gone. I've been too vested for too long. When you've been around this nonsense as long as some of us, we will see what sort of enthusiasm you still have.

I'm too tired to care. I'm not angry. I'm not even disappointed. I'm embarrassed for us as a nation and I'm checked out of whatever comes next.
I wish my kids were adults and already had careers and I wouldn't have to care, either.

This is how I feel. I’m 43 and I know that for the remainder of my life, this country is fucked.

Hillary 2.0 proves once again my first maxim of American politics - "Never, EVER, overestimate the intelligence of the American Voter."

At the moment it doesn’t look like Oliver’s 18,000 votes (let alone my single vote) would have swung the NC vote to Kamala. But also my vote isn’t Kamala’s by right. I left the GOP over Trump. I didn’t become a Dem. Binary politics isn’t helpful or ideal.
But binary politics is reality here on Earth 1. If a third party wants to be viable, it has to start at the ground level and build. You don't get to fail up unless you're trump.

I think it’s more so that a deciding percentage of the electorate wouldn’t know what fascism was if it walked up and slapped them in the face.

Low info and low propensity voters are voting on ECONOMIC issues. They don’t care about Jan 6th. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it the reality? Clearly so. So Dems need to figure out how to message that isn’t just we aren’t Trump.
Missouri voted overwhelmingly to raise minimum wage to $13.75/hour in 2025 and $15/hour in 2016 while also voting for the politicians who oppose such an increases. Dems have long favored raising the minimum wage.

We can’t afford for liberals to check out. If y’all are serious about the stuff you’ve been saying since Trump came on the scene, now is the time to step up more than anytime prior to now. Not to tune out and give up.
The other side put their whole ass on display, and won anyway. This country is what it is, and no amount of liberal rally cries will change that. I spent 20+ years in uniform for a mirage I thought this country was. I’m truly depressed tonight and it’s not because “liberals” (which I’m not) weren’t fired up enough. 50% of this country just sucks.
