Trump and Musk are forcing out so many employees for bogus reasons (and a dubious offer of an alleged buyout) it felt like we needed a separate thread from the FBI purge and the OMB funding freeze to cover it all.

Above Civil Servant level, but of note:

Trump Installs Treasury Secretary As CFPB's Acting Chief

"... The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Monday that President Donald Trump has tapped U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to serve as the agency's interim chief after ousting its former director, Rohit Chopra.

Bessent, who took over as Treasury secretary last week, was named acting CFPB director on Friday, according to a statement released by the agency. The White House's removal of Chopra became public the following morning. ..."

I'm willing to give congressional Dems the benefit of the doubt for just a little bit longer. Their inability to enter the conversation is highly concerning, but maybe there's a strategic reason behind it. But the one thing I can't understand is why we haven't seen more injunctions. Surely the federal judiciary is not so compromised yet that they're afraid to enjoin these absurdly illegal actions.

It's time to step up, federal judges. Doesn't matter who appointed you. You swore an oath. Either do the right thing to stop this insanity, or disclaim your oath.

I think Congressional dems are overwhelmed by the speed and savagery of this attack, some of which goes well beyond even the Project 2025 game plan. (P2025, for example, did not include a rogue unelected billionaire just walking in and taking control of all sensitive government data.) This is fairly unprecedented territory here, and aside from people who have already been terminated it's not exactly clear which lawsuits need to be filed.

Congressional dems have zero authority. What do you expect them to do? "Raise alarms?" WIth who - the defanged press? The GOP has all the oversight authority, and they clearly are not going to exercise it.

So Elon Musk and a bunch of random dipshit techno geeks now have access to the social security numbers and complete personnel histories of every federal employee, probably on an unsecured server. And virtually every employee of the federal government now lives in fear that they might be randomly fired or put on leave for any reason (or no reason at all).

I wonder at what point this will rise to the level that people like @HeelYeah2012 actually become concerned versus continuing to parrot the "I don't really think it matters which party is in power" line. People understand that a "bureaucracy" is made up of people, right? Do conservatives really think that some huge percentage of the federal workforce are paper-pushing drones filling no other function besides moving useless reports from Basket A to Basket B?

Isn't that pretty much what I said? Everyone is trying to figure out what they actually have the power to do to oppose this stuff. Including congressional Dems.

My question is when are the techno cuck brigade of Zuckerberg, Bezos, Sundar, etc going to sack up and admit that they gargled Trump's balls too little and too late? Elon isn't going to share his power and position with them. No amount of performative anti-DEI initiatives within their companies is going to help them unseat Elon from his position of being Trump's personal oligarch. They're all a bunch of gutless little worms so I don't expect them to grow backbones, but surely they understand that they better start fighting against Elon Musk because there's no chance of sitting in the big boy seat along with him. To quote a book series Elon loves but obviously doesn't understand, there's only one lord of the rings, and he doesn't share power.
