he's more pleasant than most of the other right wingers on the board. and even if some of us don't believe him he at least gives lip service to not being a trumper. seems to have some modicum of shame.

and i don't get the impression that he's trolling. he just has poorly informed opinions and ideas.
I'm not sure about the latter but he does keep the board from being a complete echo chamber without being completely obnoxious. I think he's amusing himself a bit with some of this act but I'm not the one to cast stones.

I believe he is transitioning.

I had some similar conversations as I moved left on the political spectrum.

Well, not about the homosexuality thing from the other thread, that one was always there for me, I just had to wake up and realize I needed to voice my position.

No. Despite the fact that Trump made VP's incredibly important, VP's aren't all that important to me.
Yea, they are important when the candidate is almost 80 and in mental decline like trump.

If he wins there's a good chance that we are stuck with JD within a year. That's more concerning than trump.

JD, loves that project 2025 stuff.

I agree Harris was better than Biden if only because she's cognitively "there" and has not exceeded the average life expectancy for her gender. I think it was a smooth transition because of a desire to rally behind anyone that was going against Trump and hadn't proven themselves unfit. Any rocking of the boat or creating of doubt would hurt the ultimate goal. Same with the money aspect.

One of the most important qualities you want in a leader is the ability to communicate, not only domestically but internationally. Reagan was a great communicator. Clinton was great at it. Obama was great at it. Kamala is not great at it. She doesn't speak well off the cuff. She isn't charismatic and often isn't even clear.

I didn't really have a personal preference. It was more about who I thought Dems should have picked to have a best chance to beat Trump.
Honestly, I believe if there was a white male candidate with exactly the same qualifications as Kamala they would be up on trump by 20 points.

Unfortunately, there are people in this country who still are not mature enough to vote for a woman or who will actively vote against a woman. I believe this is what resulted in trump in 2016 also.

Like Sam Elliot said: "If it's that woman thing, get over it. It's time to be a man and vote for a woman."

I haven't watched a lot because I knew I wouldn't be voting for her. My neighbors (hardcore never Trumpers) invited my wife and I to a debate watch party, so I watched all of that and she did well. I've watched portions of a couple of her interviews and it wasn't bad. She sometimes has a difficult time getting answers started... almost stuttering. Her answers aren't always concise and clear and she has a tendency to meander. If you take the sometimes sociopathic vibe out of it, Vance is a noticeably better off the cuff speaker, IMO.
This sounds really closed minded. "I knew I wouldn't be voting for her".

You seem to like binary things; this is an actual situation where the choice is binary. By not voting for her you are essentially voting for trump.

Ok, thanks. So is it your view that whatever position a candidate takes years before defines them for all time? If a candidate changes his or her views, is that disqualifying? I think I’m starting to understand why you’re so pessimistic about the available options, but I’m wondering if that’s a system issue or a you issue.
That's a classic conservative view point.

They don't seem to understand personal growth and evolution.

It’s not any one thing that turns me off about her, and definitely not just her position changes that made me decide to not vote for her but, yes, I do have a difficult time trusting that her position changes aren’t politically motivated to seem more center.

I don’t care about gender. At this point, I’m just so tired of being disappointed with the options.

That being said….

There are two big Presidential accomplishments: black and female. Obama absolutely earned his wins and, some politics aside, we would be hard pressed to do better. He was smart, charismatic, well-spoken and occasionally very insightful. He also called out wokeness and cancel culture which scored points with me!

I do look at Kamala and think “Is this who we want as the first female? Is this anywhere close to the best we can do?”

I thought the same about Hillary.

Have you never changed your position or opinion in regard to a subject?

Usually these types of answers are provided by people who are definitely responding to race or gender, but don't want to say that so they make up things like "it's not any one thing"

I like that Child tax credit payment stuff we had with Biden. My wife and I referred to them as Biden Bucks. I got four kids now, only had 3 then, we could rake it in!

Call it Harris Handouts. $1000 per kid per month. Haha

You, Zen, have exceeded the average life expectancy, for your gender, on this board... and you want to insinuate that "trump" is a better communicator than the Prosecutor? Fuck you buddy. And the horse you rode in on.

Fuck you

We have two choices on the menu. A shit sandwich or a cheeseburger.
But I want a turkey sandwich.
Like I said, we only have two choices. If it helps, the cheeseburger is delicious and the shit sandwich tastes literally like shit.
Yeah, but cheeseburgers aren’t healthy.
Well, a shit sandwich is far less healthy than the cheeseburger.
But neither are as healthy as a turkey sandwich.
Well, we don’t serve turkey sandwiches. So what will it be?
Just bring me whatever you want.
(Okay, one shit sandwich coming up).
