Rapture is scheduled for tomorrow

I hope that never happens. I don't want those fucking people to be conscience-free.
They have a conscience now ?

but on the plus side they may throw away their Bibles and say, "I have I been wasting my life persecuting LGBT folks as the OT Bible told me to do so if the Bible is full of shit then maybe I should just pay more attention to namby pamdy "love your neighbor, take care of the poor" woke stuff in the NT even if there is no reward in the non existent afterlife when I kick the bucket.

I was raised attending a Christian (Methodist) Church. I am still a member and attend a Methodist Church. But if turns out that salvation is universal and I go to Heaven after I die, then I am going to have some real hard questions about why there was so much evil, suffering, and misery on Earth. And a response of, "Oh, that's just the 'human condition'" is not going to cut it. However, the reponse of "When did you so much as lift your little finger to alleviate any of that 'evil, suffering, and misery' might get some traction with me.

What if there is no salvation to get into heaven because heaven does not exist ? And what if there is no benevolent God to spare us from evil, suffering, and misery on earth ? What if addressing evil, and suffering is left to the people on this planet for us to end ?

I would be interested in your thoughts.

For me I take comfort in believing there is not a God because if there was a God that God would be a sadist or incompetent .

I hold out hope religion dies and we realize it is up to us to make this a better world in which to
to live...but that's just me

I know idea you were nearly a Man of the Cloth........
Not nearly, I am an ordained minister (not the internet kind, for real).

But my career never took me (by choice) into full-time church ministry and now I am very, very ambivalent about the church altogether.

If I ever get married again (highly doubtful), I want Reverend Snoop to officiate and I want to call him and refer to him as Reverend Snoop.

+1 to all of this. I did wind up serving 9 years part time on a church staff before landing in the non-profit world.
