Roll Call: Who is voting early? Who is waiting til Nov. 5 (and why?)

The Dems in my county passed out a sample ballot with all the Dem candidates marked accordingly but they didn’t have anything marked yay or nay for the amendment, as if to say: “whatever, we don’t care one way or another.”
Somebody handed me a Repub sample ballot, which was the first time I saw the "amendment," I saw that they had marked it yes so I knew I'd be voting no...

My hunch on that is that they don't want to turn the ballot measure into a campaign issue any more than it has to be. The ballot measure is already pointless and the Pubs would love for the Democratic Party to come out forcefully against it so they can say, "See, the Democrats don't want to protect against voting by illegal aliens!"

NC ACLU's primer on the ballot amendment:

I don't think it's even that complicated. The GOP wants to be able to say that X% of North Carolinians, almost all Dems, voted against preventing noncitizens from voting. It's a cynical ploy, to which I say fuck 'em. There's no universe in which NC GOPers will decline to exploit the most vulnerable among us for political gain, so I voted no.

There is nothing partisan about people needing to be citizens ages 18 and up in order to vote. The fact this is considered partisan highlights why Democrats poll so poorly on immigration.

And yeah, if there was an amendment that said drunk driving or rape was bad, I wouldn’t twist myself in a pretzel to find a way to oppose it.
Do you enjoy being obtuse or is it unintentional? Literally nobody has said it is partisan to think that voting should be limited to citizens. The partisan accusation relates to using the constitution of the state as the equivalent of toilet paper to be modified at whim simply as a means to gin up angst and misinformation.

Fact... voting by non citizens under the age of 18 is already illegal.

Fact.... nobody from either party in NC has proposed changing that.

Now, explain the need for the Amendment. What is the purpose?

125,000 in person here in Harris County [primarily Houston], Texas yesterday on the first of 12 days of early voting with another 25,000 mail in ballots received. We've got around 2.6 million registered voters in the County give or take.

What don’t you support about the constitutional amendment? I was reading my sample ballot and the amendment seemed like something I would hope almost anyone would support. Did I miss something?
What do you understand will be changed or benefitted by the amendment? it's pointless posturing by Republicans. You should discourage the passage of meaningless amendments that are only meant to confuse people.

On this very thread, a link was shared that said the amendment is somehow being used to spread “anti immigrant rhetoric”. It’s not anti immigrant rhetoric to say that you have to be a citizen of the United States to vote. The results of this vote will show just how far off the deep end 30% or so of the state has gone (whatever percentage votes no for it)

And yet a poster on this thread has advocated for a 16 year old voting age and for illegals to be able to vote in local elections.

When you have a party who has gone so far off the rails on an issue like the Dems have with immigration, it’s an obvious move for the Republicans to put a common sense measure like this on the ballot and see how many Dems will vote against it. Just to prove how weird they are.
