Are you citing this as a good thing or a bad thing? As of yesterday, almost 39,000 votes cast in Durham out of a possible 250,000 eligible.
Yes, we were on the Lake for over a decade but sold our place to a (little known, though my son instantly recognized him when he came to look at the house) NASCAR driver’s mom and moved to a 55+ community nearby to simplify our lives a bit.I lived there for a couple of years by the lake. I'm sorry. You're a partner at Big Law and living in a 55+ community? I've never heard of that before. That said, I don't know NC lawyers.Yes, we were on the Lake for over a decade but sold our place to a (little known, though my son instantly recognized him when he came to look at the house) NASCAR driver’s mom and moved to a 55+ community nearby to simplify our lives a bit.
Why are you sorry about that? I have a very nice home that is the right size for our empty nest status, easy access to the airport and my office, just all very convenient. My husband is retired, we'd sort of aged out/had our fill of boating and jet skis, so it gives him a lot more to do than living in between vacation homes on the Lake. We usually spend falls up at our cabin, though of course that is not very practical this year due to Helene.I'm sorry. You're a partner at Big Law and living in a 55+ community? I didn't mean anything by it. It was more of a "wait, what?" comment (and not "wait, wut" which I take to have a different meaning). No judgment implied at all. I just didn't know that was a thing. And maybe it's not a thing for anyone but you, but that's OK -- it's now a thing that at least one person I sorta know does. Why are you sorry about that? No offense, but doesn't this sorta miss the point of early voting? I thought the point was to prevent people from having to wait in line. Maybe that was originally the point, and then they started to close polling locations in reliance on early voting?Just voted, 30 minute wait that became an hour one after we walked out.
In certain states. NC "releases" the voter list daily. I suspect not all states do this. That’s one part of it. I think the campaigns also make decisions based on who has early voted. Then they can better target other voters in the waning days of the campaign.
I agree. I would do early voting if it saved me time. But I can vote quicker on Election Day in Cary. And it’s also more fun voting on Election Day. So my only risk in waiting is if I was to have some emergency come up or something that prevented me from voting on the day of.No offense, but doesn't this sorta miss the point of early voting? I think the point is access. Many people have to work on Election Tuesday. No offense, but doesn't this sorta miss the point of early voting? Polling locations for Election Day voting haven't been closed, you have to have a polling location for every precinct on Election Day. Where polling locations have been closed in some places are for early voting. There have also been examples of heavy-Dem precincts having their Election Day polling locations placed in hard-to-reach or otherwise difficult locations. No offense, but doesn't this sorta miss the point of early voting? The point was to give flexibility. And it does decrease wait timesNo offense, but doesn't this sorta miss the point of early voting?
